Methods: The study included 108 patients hospitalized at the Independent Public Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Lublin, Poland, in the followi

This study examines the relationship between gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) and type D personality traits, as well as emotion regulation strategies. Analyzing a diverse group of FGID patients, we uncover significant effects of gender and age on gastrointestinal symptoms. Negative Affectivity emerges as a key predictor, positively associated with symptom severity, whereas Social Inhibition correlates negatively with Abdominal Pain. Additionally, our findings suggest that the expressive suppression strategy predicts heightened gastrointes

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a complex disease related to several factors. Psychosocial elements, such as type D personality and low level of self-esteem, might increase disease burden. The current study aimed to investigate type D personality and self-esteem in patients with FM. Female patients with FM and age-matched, healthy controls were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. Type D personality was evaluated using the type D scale (DS-14). The Rosenberg self-esteem scale (RSES) was used to assess self-esteem and psychosomatic symptoms. Type D personality was observed in 58.6% of the patients (n =

BACKGROUND: Little is known about the impact of psychological risk factors on cardiac prognosis in the drug-eluting stent era. We examined whether the distressed personality (Type D) moderates the effect of percutaneous coronary intervention with sirolimus-eluting stent implantation on adverse clinical events at 2-year follow-up. Type D is an emerging risk factor in patients with cardiovascular disease.
DESIGN: Prospective follow-up study.
METHODS: Three hundred and fifty-eight patients with ischemic heart disease, who consecutively underwent percutaneous coronary intervention with sirolimus

The participants consisted of 412 high school teachers from the Silesian Province, located in the south of Poland. Using the following research tools: Type D Scale (DS14), Perceived Stress Sca

This study examined the associations of Type D personality with headache impact and overall functioning in women with migraine, with an exploratory focus on the indirect statistical associations involving psychological symptoms

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Cognitive impairment predicts poor outcomes in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), but much remains to be learned about these patients' cognitive function. We investigated how depression, anxiety, and Type D personality relate to cognitive function in patients with CAD, adjusting for sociodemographic factors and clinical markers of CAD severity.
METHODS: We evaluated 510 consecutive patients with CAD (364 men, 146 women; mean age 58±9 years) but no history of coronary artery bypass graft surgery or cognitive impairment who were attending a cardiac rehabilita
