In humans, cutaneous metastasis of transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) has been attributed to direct extension, lymphatic or hematogenous dissemination, or surgical implantation. The purpose of this study was to characterize the clinical and histologic features of cutaneous TCC metastasis, confirmed by uroplakin-III immunohistochemistry, in dogs. BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to evaluate the modulatory effect of S-allyl cysteine against cyclophosphamide-induced changes in uroplakin IIIa, CCL11 and TNF-α.

Given its unusual lymphatic drainage system, the tonsil is a rare site of metastasis, with few reports in the human and veterinary literature. Prognosis in cases of tonsillar metastasis is reportedly poor. We describe here a unique case of urinary bladder urothelial carcinoma (UC) with metastasis to the tonsil in an 11-y-old, spayed female, mixed-breed dog. At presentation, the patient had a history of a growing neck mass and increasing lethargy, hyporexia, weight loss, drooling, and diarrhea for 2 wk. A carcinoma was diagnosed by cytology. Given the poor prognosis, the patient was euthanized.

BACKGROUND: Prostatic involvement by bladder urothelial carcinoma is uncommon, and prostatic stromal invasion usually indicates aggressive tumor biology and poor prognosis. Such patients may present with prostatic enlargement or a mass at the bladder neck-prostate junction, while serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) may remain within the normal range. This diagnostic overlap may lead to clinical confusion with benign prostatic hyperplasia or primary prostatic tumors.

Cyclophosphamide (CP) causes extensive cystitis, which is ameliorated with concomitant treatment with mesna.
