INTRODUCTION: Uterine rupture during pregnancy caused by uterine dysplasia, such as the double uterus, is very rare and easily overlooked by the surgeon.
CASE: A 25-year-old woman, at 17 weeks of gestation presented to our emergency center with acute right lower abdominal pain for more than 10 h. The initial diagnosis is acute appendicitis, but during the exploration, we found about 2500 mL of intraperitoneal hemorrhage, appendix was normal, pregnancy in one of the double uterine and ruptured at the right bottom. The pregnancy was removed and the uterine defect was repaired.
CONCLUSION: Uter

Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich (HWW) syndrome is a rare variant of Müllerian duct anomalies consisting of uterine didelphys, obstructed hemivagina, and ipsilateral renal agenesis. Patients with HWW syndrome are usually asymptomatic until menarche, when they present with acute lower abdominal pain. Here we report a case of a female newborn with right renal agenesis diagnosed during the pregnancy. The patient presented with a protruding mass over the vaginal introitus that was associated with an obstructed hemivagina and uterine didelphys.

AIM: The aim of this paper is to draw the attention of the clinicians on placenta percreta detected along with uterine anomalies in early second trimester.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 35-year-old, gravida 2 parity 1 woman at 18 weeks of pregnancy was admitted to our emergency unit with abdominal pain. In ultrasound exam, a live fetus compatible with 18 weeks of gestation, hemoperitoneum and a solid mass adjacent to the uterus were detected. An emergent laparotomy was decided because of hemorrhagic shock findings. In the operation, uterine didelphys and an active bleeding area from placenta percreta

OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate the use of ultrasound-guided hysteroscopic technique for the successful surgical management of a missed abortion in a patient with uterus didelphys and complex cervical anatomy.
SETTING: The case was managed in a tertiary referral center with a multidisciplinary team.
PARTICIPANTS: A 36-year-old woman, gravida 4 para 3, with a known Müllerian anomaly and right renal agenesis, presented with a missed abortion at 9 weeks of gestation. Although the anomaly was previously suspected, the exact diagnosis-whether bicornuate uterus or didelphys uterus-remained unclear due t

A 27-year-old woman with ovarian immature teratoma underwent 18 F-FDG PET/CT for preoperative staging, which revealed intense FDG uptake in 2 distinct pelvic structures, mimicking primary endometrial cancer or metastasis. Although MRI showed no anatomic lesions in either uterus, it confirmed uterine didelphys-a rare Müllerian duct anomaly. This case illustrates that physiological menstrual uptake within a duplicated uterus can simulate malignancy. Clinicians must recognize such anatomic variants to avoid diagnostic pitfalls and accurately stage pelvic malignancies on PET/CT.

Tubo-ovarian abscess (TOA) is an uncommon complication of pelvic infection, particularly in patients with Müllerian anomalies. We report the case of a 16-year-old girl with uterine didelphys and a history of cloacal repair who presented with fever, abdominal pain, and a large multiloculated left adnexal mass. Laparoscopy revealed a TOA within a severely distorted pelvis, requiring extensive adhesiolysis, excision of the abscess cavity with adherent tubal remnants, and partial cystectomy with ovarian preservation. Histopathology confirmed a purely inflammatory process, excluding malignancy. Thi

The MYRF gene encodes a pleiotropic transcription factor essential for the development of multiple organ systems, including the heart, lungs, diaphragm, and genitourinary tract. Pathogenic variants in MYRF are associated with a multisystem disorder commonly referred to as MYRF-related cardiac-urogenital syndrome (CUGS). We describe a term female neonate with a maternally inherited likely pathogenic MYRF variant (c.1305_1311 + 1dup), a splice-site duplication predicted to disrupt normal gene function. The patient presented with complex congenital anomalies, including scimitar syndrome, right-si

Mullerian abnormalities such as uterine didelphys have an association with renal abnormalities. Ureteric ectopia must be considered as a differential diagnosis of incontinence. We describe the case of a 21-year-old woman who presented with low volume continuous incontinence with a history of right renal agenesis and uterus didelphys. A right kidney was not identified on CT intravenous pyelogram but excretory phase images suggested the presence of a right ureter. Diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid renogram confirmed an area of perfusion consistent with a poorly functioning right kidney remnant.

BACKGROUND: Although Müllerian anomalies are relatively common they can be easily misdiagnosed as other gynecologic conditions leading to inappropriate treatment.
CASE: An 18-year-old woman presented to the hospital with abdominal pain and was found to have a 17-cm pelvic mass and absence of the cervix. Because of concern for recurrent endometrioma formation in the setting of a Müllerian anomaly, she underwent a hysterectomy. During surgery, she was noted to have complete uterine didelphys with cervical agenesis and a normal vagina.
SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION: This extremely rare Müllerian anoma

Mullerian duct anomalies are congenital abnormalities involving the female genital systems. A double uterus or uterine didelphys is one of the uterine duplication anomalies that result from impaired fusion with regard to the Mullerian ducts. The uterine didelphys can be diagnosed earlier in symptomatic patients. However, the diagnosis can be delayed or the patients may remain undiagnosed throughout their lifetime if asymptomatic. Pregnant women with uterine didelphys are at a greater risk for spontaneous miscarriage, malposition, premature labor, and cervical incompetence. Uterine didelphys ar

Müllerian duct anomalies (MDAs) are congenital disorders of the female genital tract resulting from abnormal embryological development of the Müllerian ducts. These abnormalities occur in approximately 0.5%-5.0% of the general population. The case involves a 16-year-old Middle Eastern female referred to the clinic due to primary amenorrhea and lower abdominal pain. Upon evaluation, we identified a congenital anomaly known as uterine didelphys with a transverse vaginal septum. Uterine didelphys is a type of Müllerian duct anomaly characterized by the complete duplication of the uterus, cervix,

BACKGROUND: Uterus didelphys results from a failure in Mullerian duct fusion and may be associated with complete or partial vaginal septa. Most cases of uterus didelphys are discovered incidentally during the workup of infertility or recurrent miscarriage. The incidence of uterus didelphys has been reported to be 0.2% in the infertile population.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 35-year-old white Arab woman, gravida 0, parity 0, with a history of primary infertility of 8 years (a well-known male factor) presented to our infertility center. She was diagnosed as having uterus didelphys with severe male fac

The influence of different neuropituitary hormones on the contraction of the Brazilian opossum uterus in vitro was studied in spayed adults injected with (i) peanut oil (ii) estrogen or (iii) estrogen plus progesterone, and in a fourth group of lactating animals. Two parameters were analyzed from the dose-response curve: pD2 and the relative contractile response compared to the maximal one induced by oxytocin. When oxytocin was administered to the bath, neither pD2 nor the contractile force was affected by any hormonal treatment or lactation. Oxytocin, however, remained in any hormonal status,

BACKGROUND: Complex female genital tract malformations account for 1.2% of all female genitourinary malformations. Although exceedingly rare, they can cause severe gynecologic symptoms in young women and lead to fertility problems.
CASE: We present the case of a 13-year-old girl with primary amenorrhea referred for cyclic abdominal lower pain and menouria. Detailed diagnostics revealed uterus didelphys, transverse vaginal septum, and bilateral vesicovaginal fistulas. Laparoscopic left hemi-hysterectomy and salpingectomy were performed. The vesicovaginal fistula on the right side was excised,

BACKGROUND: Hydrometrocolpos associated with uterine didelphys and cloacal malformation represents an exceptionally rare prenatal finding. These anomalies arise from complex developmental disruptions of the Müllerian ducts and anorectal structures. Early recognition through first-trimester ultrasound is critical to ensure accurate diagnosis, guide follow-up imaging, and support parental counseling and perinatal planning.
CASE PRESENTATION: A female fetus was identified in the first trimester with a midline cystic pelvic mass posterior to the bladder. The finding was initially suspicious for h

Uterine didelphys is a rare Müllerian anomaly occurring in approximately 0.1-0.5% of women. It is characterised by duplicated uterine and cervical structures and presents significant diagnostic and surgical challenges. The coexistence of atypical endometrial hyperplasia, a premalignant lesion with malignant potential, adds further complexity to management. We report a woman in her late 40s with uterine didelphys who had persistent atypical endometrial hyperplasia in one uterus and hyperplasia without atypia in the other despite a hormonal therapy trial. Preoperative imaging, including renal ul

Uterine didelphys is a rare congenital anomaly of the female reproductive organs, designated by the presence of the uterus as a pair of organs. This occurs as a result of the failure of the embryonic fusion of Müllerian ducts. Women with this abnormality have a paired uterus with two cervices and usually a double vagina. The chance of having a pregnancy in one of the pairs along with prolapse of the other is very low in a didelphic uterus. To the best of the author's knowledge, only one case of such an event has been reported so far. In this case report, we are reporting on a 28-year-old gravi
