Difference in pain experience between manual and motor-driven methods of interproximal enamel reduction: a single centre randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Interproximal enamel reduction (IER) is a common orthodontic procedure used to correct tooth-size discrepancies, create space, and reduce black triangles. Although several studies have examined the effects of IER on enamel roughness, caries risk, and periodontal health, none have investigated patient-reported pain associated with different IER techniques. As pain is a key patient-reported outcome, understanding how it varies between manual and motor-driven techniques can help clinicians improve patient comfort, refine treatment planning, and enhance informed consent discussions. Clinical evaluation of porcelain-veneered zirconia crowns with 3D-printed textured cores: A preliminary randomized clinical trial.

PURPOSE: Porcelain-veneered zirconia crowns (PVZCs) provide the opacity required to mask discolored substrates and translucency needed for a natural appearance. Although in vitro studies have demonstrated that three‑dimensionally (3D)‑printed textures on zirconia cores can strengthen the zirconia-porcelain bond and thereby may reduce chipping incidence of PVZCs, their clinical performance remains to be verified. The purpose of this randomized clinical trial was to preliminarily investigate the influence of 3D-printed textures of zirconia cores on the clinical performance of PVZCs, particularly

Mechanical properties and antibacterial efficacy against Streptococcus mutans biofilms of novel bioactive tooth root coatings in tooth-brushing simulation.

OBJECTIVES: The aging population is retaining more natural teeth, increasing the prevalence of exposed root surfaces. These surfaces are prone to abrasion, erosion, and biofilm accumulation, leading to tissue loss, hypersensitivity, and root caries. The objectives of this study were to: (1) evaluate the surface and mechanical properties of experimental resin coatings containing dimethylaminohexadecyl methacrylate (DMAHDM) and nanoparticles of amorphous calcium phosphate (NACP) following simulated toothbrushing, and (2) assess their antibacterial efficacy and protective effects compared with co

Comparative evaluation of the remineralizing potential of different calcium and fluoride-based delivery systems on artificially demineralized enamel surface; an in vitro study.

BACKGROUND: Enamel is the hardest and vastly mineralized structure of the human body. Inorganic salts make up the majority of it. Water and ions pass right through the enamel. The enamel undergoes demineralization and remineralization cycle throughout life. Recently, the interest in the development of calcium, phosphate, and fluoride remineralization technology has been increased leading to the development and reintroduction of various remineralizing agents such as fluoride, casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate fluoride (CPP-ACPF), nano-hydroxyapatite (nano-HA), xylitol, bioglass,
