BACKGROUND & AIMS: Studies have reported a lack of association between improvements in gastric emptying (GE) and upper gastrointestinal (UGI) symptoms with promotility drugs. However, GE test methods were suboptimal in some studies. BACKGROUND: Asthma and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) are common medical conditions that frequently co-exist. GORD has been postulated as a trigger for asthma; however, evidence remains conflicting. Dyspepsia affects one in four Australians; of those who present in general practice, the majority will have functional or non-ulcer dyspepsia, with no structural explanation for their symptoms.
