Long-Term Efficacy of a Mobile Mental Wellness Program: Prospective Single-Arm Study.

BACKGROUND: Rising rates of psychological distress (symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress) among adults in the United States necessitate effective mental wellness interventions. Despite the prevalence of smartphone app-based programs, research on their efficacy is limited, with only 14% showing clinically validated evidence. Our study evaluates Noom Mood, a commercially available smartphone-based app that uses cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based programming. In this study, we address gaps in the existing literature by examining postintervention outcomes and the broader imp

Roles of Psychiatry, Dietary, and Oncology Services in Occupational Medicine: A Comprehensive Review.

Occupational medicine manages the interface between health and work. Many employees live with mental illness, cancer, or diet-related diseases in safety-critical roles. These burdens change attention, stamina, risk, and retention. Psychiatry stabilizes mood, sleep, cognition, and substance use. Dietetic services improve energy balance, hydration, and micronutrients. Oncology aligns staging, treatment, and survivorship with duty risk. Services are often siloed, delaying care and widening inequity. Teams need clear roles, shared tools, and models that fit shifts, heat, chemicals, and job design.

Patient-reported outcomes of rimegepant for acute and preventive treatment of migraine in China: a prospective, multicenter, real-world study.

BACKGROUND: Migraine imposes a substantial global burden, with unmet patient-centered therapeutic needs. Rimegepant, a CGRP receptor antagonist, has trial-proven efficacy, but real-world evidence for its dual acute and preventive use in Chinese migraine populations is limited. This study evaluated its effectiveness in Chinese patients using patient-reported outcomes. METHODS: A multicenter, single-arm, prospective, non-interventional observational study was conducted across five hospitals in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, China. A total of 120 adult migraine patients who were

Efficacy of a Web-Based Stress Management Intervention for Beginning Teachers on Reducing Stress and Mechanisms of Change: Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Teaching is often characterized as a stressful profession, with a substantial proportion of teachers experiencing chronic stress and burnout. Research indicates that teachers often experience stress upon entering the workforce, leading to detrimental effects on their health, occupational well-being, and work performance and adversely impacting student outcomes. While meta-analyses have demonstrated the efficacy of internet-based stress management interventions (iSMIs) for both experienced professionals and university students, there remains a gap in research on the efficacy of iSMI

The burden of illness in patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria receiving treatment with the C5-inhibitors eculizumab or ravulizumab: results from a US patient survey.

Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is a rare and life-threatening disease with symptoms of hemolysis and thrombosis. Current therapies for this complement-mediated disease rely predominantly on inhibition of the C5 complement protein. However, data on treatment responses and quality of life in C5-inhibitor (C5i)-treated PNH patients are scarce. The objective of this study was to determine C5i treatment effects on clinical parameters, PNH symptoms, quality of life, and resource use for PNH patients. This cross-sectional study surveyed 122 individuals in the USA receiving treatment for PN

Consideration for Health Disparities in Value Assessment Frameworks.

BackgroundCost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) compares interventions based on relative value and is an integral part of value assessment. Despite recommendations for economists to consider disparities in CEAs that impact health-care resource allocation decisions, the perception held by stakeholders is that value assessment frameworks are inconsistent in practice.MethodsWe reviewed value assessment reports produced by a United States (US)-based value assessment organization to identify how patients and caregiver input may contribute to how the organization considers health disparities. We purpose

Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Treatment for Women and Girls With Hemophilia: A Narrative Review.

INTRODUCTION: Hemophilia is an X-linked bleeding disorder previously thought to present only in men. This sentiment is rapidly changing as the information around women and girls' experiences of bleeding symptoms has evolved, sparking intense discussion among researchers, clinicians, patients, and patient advocates regarding appropriate nomenclature. AIM: The primary objective of this narrative review is to build a comprehensive understanding of how women with hemophilia experience symptoms, how those symptoms are managed, navigate barriers to care, as well as discuss what can be done to allev

Intervention with methotrexate in patients with arthralgia at risk of rheumatoid arthritis to reduce the development of persistent arthritis and its disease burden (TREAT EARLIER): a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, proof-of-concept trial.

BACKGROUND: Rheumatoid arthritis is the most common autoimmune disease worldwide and requires long-term treatment to suppress inflammation. Currently, treatment is started when arthritis is clinically apparent. We aimed to evaluate whether earlier intervention, in the preceding phase of arthralgia and subclinical joint inflammation, could prevent the development of clinical arthritis or reduce the disease burden. METHODS: We conducted a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, proof-of-concept-trial at the Leiden University Medical Centre, Leiden, Netherlands. Adults aged 18 years or old

Chronic versus episodic migraine: The 15-day threshold does not adequately reflect substantial differences in disability across the full spectrum of headache frequency.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate whether the 15-day threshold of headache days per month adequately reflects substantial differences in disability across the full spectrum of migraine. BACKGROUND: The monthly frequency of headache days defines migraine subtypes and has crucial implications for epidemiological and clinical research as well as access to care. METHODS: The patients with migraine (N = 836) who participated in the American Registry for Migraine Research, which is a multicenter, longitudinal patient registry, between February 2016 and March 2020, were divided into four groups based on month

BACKGROUND: Accessible occupational health advice is only available to approximately half the United Kingdom population. With rising sickness absence new models for delivering occupational health are required to support employees with health conditions to manage their condition at work. AIM: To determine, in patients consulting in general practice who receive a fit note, whether the addition of a vocational advice intervention to usual primary care leads to fewer days lost from work, and whether vocational advice is cost-effective. DESIGN: Intervention development: Training development using

The Experiences and Perceptions of Organizational Support Among Chinese Nurses Following Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders: A Qualitative Descriptive Study.

BACKGROUND: Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are highly prevalent among nurses in China and can affect nurses' health, work ability, professional identity, and retention. Although Organizational Support Theory suggests that perceived organizational support shapes employees' post-injury attitudes and behaviours, little qualitative evidence explains how Chinese nurses interpret organizational responses after WMSDs, especially in the context of high clinical workloads and staffing pressure. OBJECTIVE(S): To explore and describe the experiences and perceptions of organizational supp

The impact of obesity: a narrative review.

Obesity is a disease with a major negative impact on human health. However, people with obesity may not perceive their weight to be a significant problem and less than half of patients with obesity are advised by their physicians to lose weight. The purpose of this review is to highlight the importance of managing overweight and obesity by discussing the adverse consequences and impact of obesity. In summary, obesity is strongly related to >50 medical conditions, with many of them having evidence from Mendelian randomisation studies to support causality. The clinical, social and economic burde

Development and implementation of the International AIDA Network Castleman's disease registry.

Castleman's disease (CD) consists of a wide spectrum of rare disorders classified into unicentric CD and multicentric CD (MCD), based on the diffusion of disease distribution and the severity of clinical manifestations. While unicentric CD is characterized by a single lymph node involvement, MCD is defined by multiple lymph node station involvement with more prominent systemic symptoms. MCD is further subdivided into HHV-8 associated MCD, polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, monoclonal plasma cell disorder, skin changes (POEMS)-associated MCD, and idiopathic MCD (iMCD), which is also
