Little is known about the aetiology, course and therapy of obscene telephone calls as a paraphilic behaviour. Overlaps to other paraphilias like voyeurism, paraphilia related disorders and the concept of stalking are reported in the literature. In case reports we describe the paraphilic development and course with a focus on the relationship to the victim. We discuss this on the background of different concepts regarding risk assessment and therapy.

OBJECTIVE: To examine gender differences in sexual abuse histories and in the development of inappropriate sexual behaviors in a sample of seriously mentally Ill youths.
METHOD: A retrospective chart review was completed for all patients from 1987 through 1992 at a tertiary care public sector psychiatric hospital for youths (N = 499). Subjects were categorized by gender, sexual abuse status, and whether they had sexually reactive or victimizing behaviors.

Five cases of anorexia nervosa in black American patients are presented. All had lost parents by death or divorce. Three had a family history of obesity and of a physical illness related to obesity. Two were male and both of these had a previous history of serious psychiatric disturbance. Three patients had a first or second degree relative with affective disorder. Two patients showed a primary lack of sexual interest and one male was bisexual. Four of the patients came from social classes 3-5.

Observations of a girl's development are presented to demonstrate the role of the transitional object in coping with the normal strains implicit in the separation-individuation thrust and in the anal-urinary and early sexual stages of development. When at eighteen months a separation experience led to a serious preoedipal castration reaction, the transitional object no longer was capable of serving its ordinary function and was replaced by a fetishistic object.

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of autosomal recessive disorders affecting cortisol biosynthesis.
