During the 19th and early 20th century the achievements in the study of ocular tuberculosis were of great significance. The development of pathological anatomy in those years helped physicians to understand the histological image and the pathophysiology of the disease and allowed the scientists to detect the specific anatomical structures of the eye, where the disease could be present. The physicians of those years tried to describe the clinical image of the disease and to give value information, in order to facilitate the diagnosis. Despite major efforts made in the field of clinical approach

Phacolytic glaucoma is an open-angle glaucoma that occurs when lens proteins from hypermature cataracts seep through an intact anterior capsule and induce obstruction of the trabecular meshwork by inflammatory cells. We review the case of a 66-year-old man who presented with acute pain, a hypermature cataract, prominent anterior chamber crystals, and elevated intraocular pressure. After cataract surgery was performed, iridescent crystals were noted in the posterior chamber. Anterior chamber crystals have been associated with phacolytic glaucoma, but this is the first case demonstrating crystal

The results of 300 consecutive glaucoma filtering procedures, which were performed in our clinic between January 1982 and September 1985, are described. The overall combined success rate (complete + qualified) was 66.5% (Heuer's classification). This is in good agreement with other glaucoma referral centers. The peak of the age distribution curve at the time of operation was between 70 and 75 years. Nevertheless, 30% of operations was performed on patients under 50 years of age. Relatively poor success rates were obtained in operations following prior unsuccessful filtering surgery (50.5%) or
