[Disorders of libido from the gynecological view point].

Sexual dysfunctions are differentiated according to the following symptoms: libido dysfunction, orgasmic dysfunction, vaginism, algopareunia and polysymptomatic dysfunction. In the out-patient service for sexual and other psychosomatic disorders of the University of Heidelberg's Women's Hospital 90 women with libido dysfunction were treated with conflict-centered psychotherapy after exclusion of organic diseases which could explain the reduction of libido and after exclusion of a depression where the loss of libido is a regular symptom. The success-rate was 63%. It was attempted to reinforce t

Partner-related attachment as a moderator of outcome in patients with social anxiety disorder-a comparison between short-term cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic therapy.

This study investigated whether partner-related attachment characteristics differentially predict premature treatment termination as well as posttreatment and 1-year follow-up outcome in patients with social anxiety disorder treated with a manualized cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or short-term psychodynamic therapy (PDT) in the SOPHO-NET (Social Phobia Psychotherapy Network) trial. Participants were 412 patients with social anxiety disorder (57% female) with a mean age of 35.4 years (SD = 12.1) who were randomized to either CBT or PDT. Partner-related attachment characteristics were measu

A Systematic Review of Psychological and Pharmacological Treatments for Adjustment Disorder in Adults.

Adjustment disorder is a common psychiatric disorder, yet knowledge of the efficacious treatments for adjustment disorder is limited. In this systematic review, we aimed to examine psychological and pharmacological interventions that target adjustment disorder in adults to determine which interventions have the best evidence for improving adjustment disorder symptoms. We performed database searches for literature published between January 1980 and September 2016 and identified studies that included both a sample majority of individuals diagnosed with adjustment disorder and findings on adjustm

[Psychodynamic Oriented Multimodal Therapy for Inpatients with Borderline Personality Disorder: Effectiveness, Response, and Dropout].

Psychodynamically oriented multimodal therapy approaches are efficacious for outpatients with borderline personality disorder (BPD). Until now, no study has reported the effectiveness, response, and dropout in a psychodynamic oriented multimodal therapy program for inpatients (PDOMT). In this study, we compared the results of 269 individuals seeking a 3-month inpatient treatment with previous studies for BPD inpatients by examining 269 individuals. The Borderline Personality Index (CUT-20-R) was used as the main outcome measure. Therapy outcome was defined in effect size (ES), response, and re

Psychological therapies for children and adolescents exposed to trauma.

BACKGROUND: Children and adolescents who have experienced trauma are at high risk of developing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other negative emotional, behavioural and mental health outcomes, all of which are associated with high personal and health costs. A wide range of psychological treatments are used to prevent negative outcomes associated with trauma in children and adolescents. OBJECTIVES: To assess the effects of psychological therapies in preventing PTSD and associated negative emotional, behavioural and mental health outcomes in children and adolescents who have undergon

Stages of change, clinical presentation, retention, and treatment outcomes in treatment-seeking outpatient problem gambling clients.

Specific stages of change have been associated with clinical variables before and during the course of addiction treatment. However, few studies have specifically focused on these relationships for problem and pathological gamblers. The present study examined the relationships between pretreatment stages of change and clinical treatment variables in a sample of 71 treatment-seeking problem and pathological gamblers. The participants were administered the following instruments: the University of Rhode Island Change Assessment (URICA), the NORC DSM-IV Screen for Gambling Problems (NODS), and the

Examining the factor structure of the 40-item Defense Style Questionnaire among adults with depression: an individual participant data meta-analysis.

The 40-item Defense Style Questionnaire (DSQ-40) is frequently used to measure defense mechanisms in adults with depression because of its brevity and efficient assessment. However, previous research has yielded inconsistent results concerning its factor structure, with one- (overall defensive functioning), three- (mature, neurotic, immature), and four- (mature, neurotic, immature, image-distorting) factor solutions being reported. Therefore, we examined the DSQ-40's latent structure across different samples. Using multigroup confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), we tested the one-, three-, and

Randomized controlled trial on feedback-informed internet-delivered psychodynamic therapy for adolescents with depression: A trial that failed to recruit enough participants.

BACKGROUND: Internet-delivered psychodynamic therapy (IPDT) has been found to be effective for adolescents with depression in previous randomized controlled trials. The present study aimed to evaluate an adaptive, feedback-informed version of IPDT, designed to improve outcomes for participants identified early as at risk of non-response. METHODS: A randomized controlled trial targeting adolescents aged 15-19 years with mild to moderate major depressive disorder. Participants were recruited through social media, national and local advertising, schools, and user organizations. After three weeks

The comparative effectiveness of psychological interventions for health anxiety: systematic review and a network meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.

BACKGROUND: Health anxiety, characterised by excessive worry about having or acquiring a serious illness, significantly impacts mental health and well-being. Determining which psychological interventions and components should be considered as first-line treatments requires robust evidence. AIMS: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of various psychological interventions and their essential components in managing health anxiety. METHOD: A comprehensive search was conducted across multiple academic databases, including PubMed, Embase, PsyINFO, Web of Science, Scopus and the Cochrane Centr

Developing a multivariable prediction model to support personalized selection among five major empirically-supported treatments for adult depression. Study protocol of a systematic review and individual participant data network meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Various treatments are recommended as first-line options in practice guidelines for depression, but it is unclear which is most efficacious for a given person. Accurate individualized predictions of relative treatment effects are needed to optimize treatment recommendations for depression and reduce this disorder's vast personal and societal costs. AIMS: We describe the protocol for a systematic review and individual participant data (IPD) network meta-analysis (NMA) to inform personalized treatment selection among five major empirically-supported depression treatments. Therapeutic interventions in the treatment of eating disorders: A naturalistic study.

This study used naturalistic data from psychodynamic (PD) and cognitive-behavioral (CB) clinicians in the community to offer a portrait of treatments for eating disorder (ED) patients as provided in everyday clinical practice. The research aims were (1) to examine the therapeutic interventions reported by PD and CB clinicians working with ED patients; and (2) to assess the impact of different variables (such as patient personality styles, ED symptomatology, and therapists' theoretical orientation and experience) on the technique use reported by clinicians. A national sample of PD and CB clinic

[The relationship between psychopathological symptoms and therapeutic change in relation to personality organization in a psychotherapeutic inpatient setting].

BACKGROUND: In the assessment of personality disorders, the growing popularity of the dimensional approach (DSM-5 AMPD, ICD-11) has led to an increased emphasis on the role of psychodynamically based structural diagnosis. The key question is how the level of deeper personality organization (STIPO-R) relates to surface complaints (MMPI-2) and whether it can predict therapeutic outcome independently of symptom severity. OBJECTIVE: The aim of our research is to explore the relationship between the level of personality organization and psychopathological symptoms, and to examine whether the level

Trading Patients: Applying the Alternative Model for Personality Disorders to Two Cases of DSM-5 Borderline Personality Disorder Over Time and Across Therapists.

The DSM-5 Alternative Model for Personality Disorders (AMPD) dimensionally defines personality pathology using severity of dysfunction and maladaptive style. As the empirical literature on the clinical utility of the AMPD grows, there is a need to examine changes in diagnostic profiles and personality expression in treatment over time. Assessing these changes in individuals diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD) is complicated by the tendency for patients to cycle through multiple therapists over the course of treatment leaving the potential for muddled diagnostic clarity and dis

Enigma of apnea test for brain death on ECMO-an ongoing discussion-case study and review of literature.

INTRODUCTION: Depression may affect 2% to 8% of children and adolescents, with a peak incidence around puberty. It may be self-limiting, but about 40% of affected children experience a recurrent attack, one third of affected children will make a suicide attempt, and 3% to 4% will die from suicide. METHODS AND OUTCOMES: We conducted a systematic review and aimed to answer the following clinical questions: What are the effects of pharmacological, psychological, combination, and complementary treatments for depression in children and adolescents? What are the effects of treatments for refractory
