In autonomous driving and intelligent transportation systems, the degradation of image quality under low-light conditions severely impacts the reliability of subsequent object detection. Existing methods predominantly employ data-driven deep learning models for image enhancement, often lacking physical interpretability and struggling to maintain robustness in complex lighting-varying traffic scenarios. To address this, this paper proposes a Physically Guided Transformer-CNN Hybrid Network (Physically Guided Transformer-CNN Hybrid Network, PGT-Net) for end-to-end joint optimization of low-light

This work examined the combined effects of waste cooking oil biodiesel (WCOB), NiFe2O4 nanocatalysts, and hydrogen (H2) enrichment on in-cylinder processes, engine performance, and emissions of a diesel engine. To accurately represent the physical processes and to derive thermodynamically consistent predictions, a physics-encoded multi-task machine learning (PE-MTMML) model was developed. Tests were carried out on a single-cylinder, four-stroke diesel engine at 1500 rpm. The engine was operated on blends of diesel, WCOB, and NiFe2O4 (50-150 ppm) with the addition of H2 at 5 LPM. The analysis o

PURPOSE: Accurate prediction of the laser energy absorption and corresponding thermal spread is essential for safe and effective outcomes in magnetic resonance-guided laser interstitial thermal therapy (MRgLITT), as it enables clinicians to anticipate thermal spread and ensure complete ablation of the epileptogenic focus while minimizing collateral damage. However, current planning tools rely on simplified models that neglect patient-specific anatomy and the cooling effects of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), often resulting in incomplete or asymmetric ablations. To address these limitations, this w

The coronavirus main protease, essential for viral replication, is a well-validated antiviral target. Here, we present Deep-CovBoost, a computational pipeline integrating deep learning with free energy perturbation (FEP) simulations to guide the structure-based optimization of inhibitors targeting the coronavirus main protease. Starting from a reported noncovalent inhibitor, the pipeline generated and prioritized analogs using predictive modeling, followed by rigorous validation through FEP and molecular dynamics simulations. This approach led to the identification of optimized compounds (e.g.

The operation of heavy-haul railway trains with large loads results in significant cracking issues in reinforced concrete beams. Atmospheric carbon dioxide, oxygen, and moisture from the atmosphere penetrate into the beam interior through these cracks, accelerating the carbonation of the concrete and the corrosion of the steel bars. The rust-induced expansion of steel bars further exacerbates the cracking of the beam. The interaction between environmental factors and beam cracks leads to a rapid decline in the durability of the beam. To address this issue, a multi-physics field coupling durabi

PURPOSE: This study aims at establishing a validation framework for an explainable radiomics-based model, specifically targeting classification of histopathological subtypes in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.
METHODS: We developed an explainable radiomics pipeline using open-access CT images from the cancer imaging archive (TCIA). Our approach incorporates three key prongs: SHAP-based feature selection for explainability within the radiomics pipeline, a technical validation of the explainable technique using high energy physics (HEP) data, and a biological validation using RNA-se

Combined small and wide angle synchrotron x-ray scattering (SAXS and WAXS) techniques have been developed for in situ high pressure samples, enabling exploration of the atomic structure and nanoscale superstructure phase relations. These studies can then be used to find connections between nanoparticle surfaces and internal atomic arrangements. We developed a four-axis control system for the detector, which we then employed for the study of two supercrystals assembled from 5 nm Fe(3)O(4) and 10 nm Au nanoparticles. We optimized the x-ray energy and the sample-to-detector distance to facilitate

Community-based physical activity opportunities have been shown to help adults with physical disabilities improve their participation in daily activities and reduce social isolation. Despite the known benefits, substantial barriers and challenges inhibit accessibility to these physical activity opportunities. To facilitate the co-construction of strategies to overcome accessibility issues pertaining to community-based physical activity opportunities. In total, 45 individuals with physical disabilities, patients at a rehabilitation hospital, staff members of disability organizations, staff of l

Structural equation modeling was used to derive a relationship predicting the intention to participate in community physical activity among community-dwelling adults with a physical disability in Xiamen, China. The data were collected in a cross-sectional survey. The structural equation modeling combined biomedicine and the theory of planned behavior. It integrated ratings using the rehabilitation set from the international classification of functioning, disability, and health and role-physical scores from the short form 36 health survey questionnaire instrument. The model demonstrated a good

BACKGROUND: Prior literature has demonstrated the associations of parental physical punishment with child behavior problems and increased risk of physical abuse. In South Korea, physical punishment is a common parenting practice. In 2021, legislative reforms eliminated legal grounds for parental physical punishment in South Korea. However, research on physical punishment, physical abuse, and child behavior problems in the Korean context is scarce.
OBJECTIVE: This study examined whether physical punishment and physical abuse have unique associations with child behavior problems and whether phy

PURPOSE: Impairment caused by stroke is a major cause of disablement in older adults. Physical activity has been shown to improve physical functioning; however, little research has been done to explore how physical activity of different intensities may affect physical function among stroke survivors. The purpose of this study was to examine the patterns of accelerometer-measured physical activity and the relationship between physical activity intensities and objective physical functioning and perceived functional limitations in stroke survivors.
METHODS: Stroke survivors (N = 30, mean age = 6

Background and objectives: Lymphoma patients experience a psychological and physiological decline that could be reversed by exercise. However, little is known about the effects of the exercise on psychological and physical fitness variables. Therefore, the purpose of this longitudinal study was to assess self-efficacy, fatigue and physical fitness before and after an eight-week exercise intervention. Materials and Methods: Thirty-six participants (54.4 ± 19.1 years) performed a supervised exercise program (~60 min, 2d·wk-1). Each session included a combined progressive training of cardiorespir

BACKGROUND: Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients reportedly display reduced daily physical activity (DPA) and physical performance. Low daily physical activity and decreased physical performance are each associated with worse outcomes in chronic kidney disease patients. Although daily physical activity and physical performance might be expected to be related, few studies have examined such relationships in MHD patients, and methods for examining daily physical activity often utilized questionnaires rather than activity monitors. We hypothesized that daily physical activity and physical perf

Former studies on the effects of physical exercise, physical and occupational therapy (PT, OT) and speech and swallowing therapy (ST, SwT) in Parkinson's disease (PD) have demonstrated little or uncertain effects. New pathophysiological concepts have been developed. Recent controlled high-level studies demonstrate improvement of mobility and balance after training of muscular strength and endurance, trunk control, and amplitude and rhythmicity of movements (treadmill). Attentional and cognitive strategies were found to enforce body awareness and improve movement sequences. Dance, sensory (audi
