Cutaneous eruptions related to hepatitis C virus (HCV), a major cause of hepatitis in the setting of blood transfusion, intravenous drug abuse, organ transplantation, and hemodialysis, are typically reported as isolated cases. INTRODUCTION: Pyoderma fistulans sinifica (PFS) is a rare chronic cutaneous and subcutaneous infectious disease and is associated with major physical and psychological morbidity. In this article, we present the case of a young patient affected by severe PFS, who concomitantly suffered severe left-sided cardiac insufficiency and was considered for cardiac transplantation. By radical debridement and skin grafting of all areas affected by PFS, the patient's overall condition rapidly improved and was correlated with a significant and measurable improvement of cardiac function.

A skin substitute developed in Australia 2 decades ago for use in acute burns was recently introduced into the United States for the treatment of open wounds. This product has been shown to be very efficacious for coverage of debrided burn wounds. It consists of an inorganic synthetic woven layer that induces cellular ingrowth and deposition of interstitial tissue. It is covered by an attached silicone layer that seals the wound. Cutaneous manifestations occur in the course of hematologic malignancies and precede, accompany or occur late in relation to the diagnosis. They result from paraneoplastic phenomena, tumor infiltrations, immunosuppression resulting from the hematologic disease itself or its treatment. Clear-cell acanthoma (CCA) has been reported to be a benign epidermal neoplasm; however, several authors have suggested alternative differentiation as well as other nosologic categories, including a reactive dermatosis.
