BACKGROUND: Soft-tissue defects of the distal lower extremity and foot present significant challenges to the reconstructive surgeon. The reverse superficial sural artery flap (RSSAF) is a popular option for many of these difficult wounds. Our initial experience with this flap at multiple institutions resulted in a 50% failure rate, mostly because of critical venous congestion. For many years, parasite ecologists have debated the relative importance of phylogeny and ecology as drivers of parasite community structure. Here, we address this issue using data on the metazoan ectoparasite communities of different flatfish species. INTRODUCTION: Delta storage pool disease (δ-SPD) is a platelet function disorder due to the decreased number and contents of dense granules causing bleeding symptoms. Diagnosis of δ-SPD is a complex procedure due to the variability of test results in platelet aggregometry and also it requires specialised tests.
