INTRODUCTION: Tuberculous dactylitis (TD) is a rare disorder. It is the source of a diagnostic hardship as it is difficult to distinguish from other lesions. We report an unusual case with multiple affected sites both in hands and the right big toe.
CASE REPORT: A 42-year-old female initially presented with two painful tumefactions affecting the left third finger and the right middle finger. These tumefactions had been present for two months. Conventional radiography and computed tomography of the hand revealed soft tissue swelling with bone expansion and cortical destruction in the proximal,

BACKGROUND: The second webspace syndrome (SWS) refers to the progressive divergence between 2nd and 3rd toes associated with pain at the second intermetatarsal space that can be confused with Morton's neuroma and treated as such without considering the underlying deformity. There is yet no consensus regarding the best treatment, from isolated soft tissue or bony procedures or a combination of both. The objective of this study was to describe the clinical characteristics of the disease, as well as to evaluate the radiological outcomes of patients with SWS treated with open Weil's osteotomy or d

INTRODUCTION: Melorheostosis is an extremely rare, non-hereditary bone disorder characterized by its distinctive radiographic feature of flowing hyperostosis, reminiscent of dripping candle wax, typically appearing unilaterally in long bones. Initially proposed by Leri and Joanny in 1922, the exact cause remains largely speculative, and treatment is primarily symptomatic. This condition predominantly affects a single limb, with a higher incidence in the lower extremities, while axial skeletal involvement is uncommon.
CASE REPORT: We present a severe melorheostosis affecting the left lower lim

First metatarsal phalangeal (MTP) joint arthrodesis has been employed for decades for pain related to arthritis and other associated abnormalities. Despite the commonality of the procedure there continues to be questions regarding functional expectations following the procedure especially when employed for correction of hallux valgus deformity. We surveyed 60 patients who had a tri plane MTP joint arthrodesis at mean 28.4 months (median 27.8) regarding their activities of daily living and sports activity through a direct conversation. Secondary endpoints assessed were return to activity, defor

Diagnosis of pheochromocytoma can be simple when classic manifestations are present. It can also be challenging and complicated in some cases because of its wide array of faces and presentations. We present a case of a 30-year-old female patient who came with acute respiratory distress, chest pain, hemoptysis, asthenia, anorexia, weight loss of 20kg, and paresthesia in her lower limbs. Clinical examination found high blood pressure, accelerated heart and respiratory rates, signs of acute right heart failure with jugular venous distention and ankle edema, reticularis livedo in the four limbs, u

When bunionette deformities are not responding to conservative treatment, several surgical procedures are available. Recently, minimal invasive techniques have been proposed with good results. We present our results of a strictly percutaneous 5th metatarsal osteotomy to correct the deformity with bandage after care. We present a retrospective review on 20 percutaneous distal oblique 5th metatarsal osteotomies for correction of bunionette deformity. Aftercare consisted of 5-6 weeks of corrective taping with full weight bearing using a post-op shoe. Patients were evaluated radiographically and c

BACKGROUND: Zaki syndrome is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by pathogenic variants in the WLS gene, which is essential for Wnt signaling. Altered Wnt signaling disrupts fetal development, organ formation, and tissue regeneration, leading to bone abnormalities and distinctive facial features. Key clinical characteristics of Zaki syndrome include specific facial features, microcephaly, skeletal anomalies, and eye malformations. However, the identification and diagnosis of Zaki syndrome remain challenging.
METHODS: The prenatal data and clinical information of a patient suspected of Zaki

Acrodermatitis continua of Hallopeau (ACH) is a rare, sterile pustular eruption of one or more digits. The condition presents with tender pustules and underlying erythema on the tip of a digit, more frequently arising on a finger than a toe. As far as classification, ACH is considered a localized form of pustular psoriasis. The eruption typically occurs after local trauma or infection, but such a history is not always present and various other etiologies have been described including infectious, neural, inflammatory, and genetic causes. The natural progression of ACH is chronic and progressive

Lesser metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint plantar plate tears are a common and increasingly recognised cause of metatarsalgia, MTP joint instability and forefoot deformity. Increased interest in early accurate diagnosis of plantar plate tears follows recent surgical innovations allowing direct plantar plate repair. The purpose of this review is to describe the ultrasound features of normal lesser MTP joint plantar plates and to characterise and illustrate the direct and indirect ultrasound findings of plantar plate tears. Lesser MTP joint plantar plate tears are most commonly located at the 2nd M

BACKGROUND: The Rotoglide total replacement of the MTP-1 joint. 15 years survival analysis. The purpose of this prospective study was to evaluate the long-term performance clinico-radiographically of an uncemented three-component total replacement for the first metatarso-phalangeal joint (MTP-1) used for hallux rigidus (primary osteoarthritis grades 3 and 4). The follow-up was median 11.5 years (7-15).
METHODS: The AOFAS forefoot score was used preoperatively and at follow-up. Radiographs were taken weight-bearing in the AP-projection and in tip-toe standing in the lateral view. Arthrosis in

BACKGROUND: Acro-osteolysis (AO) involves partial or total destruction of the distal phalanges of the fingers or toes. The range of forms of AO is extremely wide. A distinction is generally made between the acquired forms and the genetic and idiopathic forms. Herein we report a case of idiopathic transverse single-finger AO associated with onychopathy.
PATIENT AND METHODS: A 48-year-old woman consulted for a nail lesion involving brachyonychia in the right index finger alone (pseudo-clubbing appearance of the finger). The remainder of the clinical examination was normal, particularly in terms

Neu-Laxova Syndrome (NLS) is a severe disorder with intrauterine growth retardation, edema, and characteristic face (including microcephaly with receding forehead, protuberant eyes, a flattened nose, deformed ears, cleft palate, and micrognathia). Ichthyosis is often present. Limb anomalies include hypoplastic fingers and syndactyly of fingers and toes. Patients are usually stillborn or die shortly after birth. We report five unrelated patients--four with atypical NLS and one with typical NLS. All five patients were stillbirths. Clinically, the atypical NLS patients showed a large skull; rhizo
