Four butenolides, ramariolides A-D (1-4), have been isolated from the fruiting bodies of the coral mushroom Ramaria cystidiophora. Their structures were elucidated by analysis of 1D and 2D NMR data and a single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis of 1, and their absolute configurations were established using Mosher's method. The major metabolite, ramariolide A (1), which contains an unusual spiro oxiranebutenolide moiety, showed in vitro antimicrobial activity against Mycobacterium smegmatis and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

A new biflavonoid, amentoflavone-7-O-β-D-glucoside, and thirteen known flavonoids were isolated from the fruits of Juniperus chinensis using a bioactivity-guided method and their tyrosinase inhibitory effects were tested using a mushroom tyrosinase bioassay. A comparative study was carried out between two beef-like flavourings prepared by conventional and microwave heating (CBF and MBF) of enzymatic hydrolysate of mushroom protein with other flavour precursors. More and more medicinal mushrooms have been widely used as a miraculous herb for health promotion, especially by cancer patients.
