Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a progressive, life-altering disease that imposes profound physical, psychological, and economic burdens on patients and caregivers. Therapeutic advances over the past three decades, most recently the introduction of sotatercept, have improved survival and functional outcomes. Despite this, many of the most pressing needs remain unseen, particularly those related to health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Patients often face years of diagnostic delays, and once diagnosed, experience fragmented care delivered across subspecialties. Rural, minority, and l

The antimicrobial and antibiofilm properties of plant essential oils (EOs) have aroused significant interest for their potential as effective alternatives or supplements in combating microbial infections and biofilm-associated challenges. For these applications, EOs must be encapsulated to overcome some key technical limitations, including high volatility, poor stability, and low solubility. This study aimed to develop microencapsulated EOs derived from two valuable Moroccan medicinal plants, Lavandula stoechas L. and Thymus pallidus Batt., both individually and in combination, using the spray

In Valencia Region (Spain), some wild and cultivated sages are used for medicinal purposes. Among them, Salvia officinalis subsp. lavandulifolia (SL) is widely employed and known for production of Spanish sage oil and herbal products. Nevertheless, it shares the market with S. blancoana subsp. mariolensis (SB) and, to a lesser extent, with their hybrid S. x hegelmaieri (SH). The knowledge on these two species is far low and confusion between them is possible. The aim of the present paper is to improve the ethnopharmacological, morphological and chemical knowledge of these sages, and to contrib

BACKGROUND: The polyherbal eye drop (Itone™) is a mixture of aqueous distillates of nineteen traditionally used ingredients that sum up to impart potency to the formulation and make it a useful adjunct in various ocular pathologies. However, as there have been no controlled experimental studies accounting to the above claim, therefore, the present study was designed to evaluate the polyherbal formulation (PHF) for antiangiogenic, anti-inflammatory, anticataract, antioxidant and cytotoxicity in addition to the evaluation of intraocular penetration of PHF in rabbit eyes using LC-MS/MS.

1. Changes in membrane potential and temporal patterns of spikes were analyzed in 30 output cells in the salamander olfactory bulb in response to stimulation with 1-s pulses of the odorants isoamyl acetate, cineole, and camphor. The odor responses were more complex than responses to electrical stimulation of the olfactory nerve or olfactory tracts, with which they were compared. Most began with hyperpolarization and contained prolonged hyperpolarizing and depolarizing potentials that appeared to be compound postsynaptic potentials. These potentials were related to periods of spike inhibition a

Research Purposes. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an autoimmune disease coinduced by genes, environment, and immune response, mainly including ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD). There are a large number and variety of intestinal bacteria in the human intestinal tract. These bacteria maintain a balance with the human environment and participate in the normal physiological processes of the human body. They play a unique role in defending against pathogen invasion, maintaining the homeostasis of the human immune system and metabolizing substances. Intestinal flora imbalance ma

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Transmission of ethnopharmacological knowledge over a long period of time and across a vast area or between botanically or culturally/scientifically unrelated regions of the world is a fundamental issue in ethnopharmacology, as it traces continuity and transformation(s) of the data to be submitted to analysis for evaluation. In the context of present interest in Eastern medicine (particularly Indian and Chinese), we ask questions about the transmission of knowledge from the East to the Mediterranean. In the first part, we survey available literature on trade bet

Skin cancers are among the most common human cancers and have an increasing incidence. The ultraviolet radiation components of sunlight play a major role in skin tumor induction and development. Cellular DNA has been identified as a target for most of the biological effects of UV, and the induction of photodamage is considered as the initiating step of photocarcinogenesis. Thus, effective photoprotection of DNA against harmful overex-posure to solar UV is a critical issue. The efficiency of a sunscreen is usually tested with respect to its ability to prevent skin erythema, but conceivably, mor
