Pediatric Corneal Transplant Surgery: Challenges for Successful Outcome.

Visual rehabilitation of pediatric corneal blinds is a major challenge to corneal transplant surgeons. Penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) is the only way to restore vision and prevent irreversible blindness due to amblyopia in children. Performing penetrating corneal grafts in children poses difficulty in evaluation, technical difficulties during surgery and problems during follow-up. Younger children do not cooperate for proper slit-lamp examination and need to be examined under general anaesthesia. In addition, the complications encountered post PKP, including allograft rejection, post PKP astig

Ocular ischemic syndrome; A case report.

BACKGROUND: Ocular ischemic syndrome is not a common condition so most of these cases are often misdiagnosed or treated as a different entity. Therefore, it is very important for the ophthalmologists to have this condition in mind as a differential so that the patients can be diagnosed and treated as early as possible. A 42 years female presented with painless, progressive diminution of vision in right eye over the period of 1 month. She doesn't give any history of redness of eyes, fever or trauma. There is no history of diabetes mellitus or hypertension as well. On examination, vision in righ

Traumatic Luxation of the Eye Ball with Optic Nerve Transection Following Road Traffic Accident: Report of Two Cases and Brief Review of Literature.

BACKGROUND: Traumatic luxation of the eye ball is rare with only 106 cases reported in PubMed till date. The anatomic location of the eyeball within the socket and the resilience of the globe to pressure force, attachment to extraocular muscles and optic nerve prevents luxation during trauma. CASE: Road traffic accidents (RTA) is the most common cause for these injuries and the outcome can vary from complete recovery on repositioning to visual loss due to globe perforation or optic nerve injury. We report two unique cases of traumatic right globe luxation and complete optic nerve transection
