The Authors report their experience about fifty patients affected with renovascular hypertension, treated by percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) for stenosis of main renal artery and now studied by Duplex-Scan and Color-doppler. Results, compared with arterial pressure measurements, renography and laboratory renal function evaluation, showed a sensibility of 84%, specificity of 90% and an accuracy of 87.5%. Advantages and limits of Duplex-scan in patients treated by PTA are briefly discussed.

Male sexual activity is in all mammalian species, included man, androgen-dependent. The role of testosterone (T) starts already during intrauterine life. It continues thereafter, inducing the development of sexual secondary characteristics and libido. Therefore T has represented the "classical" treatment of male sexual dysfunctions. In the therapeutic routinary use T is employed ad ester, like cipionate, enanthate and other i.m., undecanoate per os. When a pituitary defect is present and the testicular receptors are functioning a treatment with HCG can be employed.

We evaluated the usefulness of percutaneous nephrostomy in 1700 patients treated for reno-ureteral stones by extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (SWL). Out of this group 81 patients (5.8%) underwent echo-guided percutaneous nephrostomy (EPCN): the procedure has been performed in local anesthesia in 38% of the cases (31 pts) before SWL and in 62% (50 pts) after. The majority of EPCN were carried out for the presence of acute or chronic ureteral obstruction with echographic evaluable dilation of pyelocaliceal system when retrograde ureteral manipulations failed or were considered unsuitable. The introduction of intracavernosal (i.c.) administration of vasoactive drugs has revolutionized diagnosis and treatment of sexual impotence. The authors consider the concentration of antibacterial drugs in the seminal fluid as a reliable experimental model for the study of pharmacokinetics in chronic prostatitis (c.p.). This study evaluates the sleep-related erections in 5 patients with locally advanced prostate cancer (T3NOMO) during 6 months treatment with Casodex by multinight continuous monitoring of penile tumescence and rigidity. Mean serum LH, Testosterone and Estradiol levels shown a no statistically significant increase at the six months control. From January 1985 till June 1989, 222 patients with ureteral stones, underwent ESWL treatment. 109 patients were treated with the original Dornier HM3 under general or epidural anaesthesia and 113 patients were treated with the modified Dornier HM3 under anglosedation. 156 stones were in the upper ureter, 15 in the middle ureter, 51 in the lower ureter. The anatomo-physiologic appearances of female urination obtained with a new ultrasonographic technique is illustrated. Varicocele normally presents itself in adolescence, with an incidence of 16 per cent. Less than one third of the boys, though, will suffer from male infertility in adulthood. Therefore, it seems excessive as well as imprudent to suggest surgery to all those patients. We worked out some parameters to identify "risky" cases of varicocele. Penile metastases are uncommon lesions: most often secondary to a primary pelvic cancer (prostate, bladder and rectum) they have a unfavourable prognosis. The appearance of disseminations is still controversial and there is not an efficacious therapy. Priapism may be present or not. The Authors report their experience on a penile metastasis secondary to prostatic cancer and about the evolution of this pathology. A review of the Literature is done.

This clinical study has been designed to evaluate the efficacy of an extract of Pygeum Africanum (Tadenan) (Roussel-Pharma) in patients suffering from prostatic hypertrophy or chronic prostatitis.
