Breed-specific microbiomes drive differential responses to 3-nitrooxypropanol and Acacia mearnsii in dairy cows.

Methane (CH4) inhibitor 3-nitrooxypropanol (3-NOP) shows variable efficacy in Brown Swiss (BS) and Holstein (HF) cows, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Rumination bolus, a proxy for rumen microbiota, combined with exhalomics (analysis of exhaled volatiles), offered a noninvasive approach to differentiate breed responses to CH4 mitigation strategies. We investigated whether differences in rumination bolus microbiota and exhaled VFA (eVFA) between BS and HF cows contribute to their responses to 3-NOP. Sixteen multiparous cows (8 BS, 8 HF) were studied in a replicated 4 × 4 Latin squ

Gum Acacia as a Novel Therapeutic Agent for Male Infertility: What Does the Evidence Say?

Male fertility has declined markedly in recent decades, with reductions in sperm count, motility, and quality posing a growing global concern. Among the multifactorial causes, oxidative stress plays a central role by disrupting redox balance, damaging sperm DNA, impairing membrane integrity, and reducing motility. Natural antioxidants, particularly plant-derived bioactives, have gained significant attention as potential modulators of male reproductive health. Gum Acacia (GA), a dried exudate obtained mainly from Acacia senegal and Acacia seyal, is a highly branched arabinogalactan-rich polysac

Analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-platelet activities of the methanolic extract of Acacia modesta leaves.

The current study was aimed to evaluate Acacia modesta for analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-platelet activities. The analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects were assessed in rodents using acetic acid and formalin-induced nociception, hot plate and carrageenan-induced rat paw oedema tests. The intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration of the methanolic extract (50 and 100 mg/kg) produced significant inhibition (P\0.01) of the acetic acid-induced writhing in mice and suppressed formalin-induced licking response of animals in both phases of the test. In the hot plate assay the plant extract (10

Glycerol-Based Cryopreservation of Sinorhizobium/Ensifer Strains from Sweet Acacia (Vachellia farnesiana [L.] Wight & Arn.).

The genus Sinorhizobium (Ensifer) exhibits remarkable metabolic versatility and adaptive capacity, establishing effective nitrogen-fixing symbioses with diverse legume crops, including the pioneer shrub Vachellia farnesiana. This association is crucial for ecological restoration in arid and nutrient-deficient Mexican dryland ecosystems and for the remediation of contaminated sites. However, the prolonged preservation of specialized native strains through continuous serial subculturing risks genomic instability and the loss of extrachromosomal replicons harboring essential nod, nif, and heavy m

Phenol-assisted depolymerization of Acacia mangium tannin for strong and fast-curing biomass-based phenolic resins.

Traditional phenolic resins have issues such as high petroleum consumption and high curing temperatures. This study is the first to use cost-effective phenol as a nucleophile to depolymerize Acacia mangium tannin (AMT) under acidic conditions at 60 °C. Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/ Ionization Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) showed that the polymerization degree of the depolymerized Acacia mangium tannin (AMT-d) decreased from 9 to 2. Subsequently, depolymerized Acacia mangium tannin-phenol-formaldehyde resin (DT-PF) was prepared by replacing 50% of phenol with AMT-d. The th
