Environmental Preconditioning Shapes the Expression and Post-Formulation Stability of Plant Growth-Promoting Traits in Native Actinobacteria.

The functional expression of plant growth-promoting (PGP) traits in soil actinobacteria is conditioned by abiotic factors, yet the combined effects of pH and temperature on their metabolic profiles and the stability of these profiles after encapsulated formulation and post-processing stress remain insufficiently characterized. This study aimed to evaluate the physiological plasticity of native actinobacteria and the expression of plant growth-promoting (PGP) traits under different pH and temperature conditions, as well as their stability after encapsulation, dehydration, and exposure to UV irr

Marine Actinobacteria a New Source of Antibacterial Metabolites to Treat Acne Vulgaris Disease-A Systematic Literature Review.

Acne vulgaris is a multifactorial disease that remains under-explored; up to date it is known that the bacterium Cutibacterium acnes is involved in the disease occurrence, also associated with a microbial dysbiosis. Antibiotics have become a mainstay treatment generating the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. In addition, there are some reported side effects of alternative treatments, which indicate the need to investigate a different therapeutic approach. Natural products continue to be an excellent option, especially those extracted from actinobacteria, which represent a prominent s

Penicillin-Binding Proteins, β-Lactamases, and β-Lactamase Inhibitors in β-Lactam-Producing Actinobacteria: Self-Resistance Mechanisms.

The human society faces a serious problem due to the widespread resistance to antibiotics in clinical practice. Most antibiotic biosynthesis gene clusters in actinobacteria contain genes for intrinsic self-resistance to the produced antibiotics, and it has been proposed that the antibiotic resistance genes in pathogenic bacteria originated in antibiotic-producing microorganisms. The model actinobacteria Streptomyces clavuligerus produces the β-lactam antibiotic cephamycin C, a class A β-lactamase, and the β lactamases inhibitor clavulanic acid, all of which are encoded in a gene supercluster;

Endophytic actinobacteria of Hymenachne amplexicaulis from the Brazilian Pantanal wetland produce compounds with antibacterial and antitumor activities.

The increase in the number of deaths from infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria and cancer diseases highlights the need for new molecules with biological activity. Actinobacteria represent a potential source of new compounds, as these microorganisms have already produced a great diversity of clinically employed antibiotics. Endophytes from unexplored biomes, such as the Pantanal (the largest wetland in the world), can be a source of new molecules. Hymenachne amplexicaulis is among the unexplored native plants of the Pantanal in terms of its endophytic community. This plant is consi

OSMAC Method to Assess Impact of Culture Parameters on Metabolomic Diversity and Biological Activity of Marine-Derived Actinobacteria.

Actinobacteria are known for their production of bioactive specialized metabolites, but they are still under-exploited. This study uses the "One Strain Many Compounds" (OSMAC) method to explore the potential of three preselected marine-derived actinobacteria: Salinispora arenicola (SH-78) and two Micromonospora sp. strains (SH-82 and SH-57). Various parameters, including the duration of the culture and the nature of the growth medium, were modified to assess their impact on the production of specialized metabolites. This approach involved a characterization based on chemical analysis completed

Genomic and Phenotypic Characterization of Streptomyces sirii sp. nov., Amicetin-Producing Actinobacteria Isolated from Bamboo Rhizospheric Soil.

In our large-scale search for antimicrobial-producing bacteria, we isolated an actinomycete strain from rhizospheric soil of Bambusa vulgaris. The strain designated BP-8 showed noticeable antibacterial activity. BP-8 was subjected to a whole-genome analysis via a polyphasic taxonomy approach, and its antibacterial metabolite was identified by HRLS-MS. The results of the physiological and morphological analyses indicated that BP-8 is an aerobic, neutrophilic, mesophilic organism that is tolerant to 8% NaCl and can use a wide range of carbohydrates. It forms curly sporophores with a warty surfac

Differentiation of the metabolic profile of actinobacteria isolated from the soil of the caatinga biome by paper spray mass spectrometry.

Paper spray mass spectrometry (PS-MS) is an ambient ionization technique that allows for rapid and direct mass spectrometry analysis for a wide range of chemical compounds due to its portability, little to no sample preparation, and cost-effective materials. As applications with this technique continue to expand, the identification and discrimination of bacteria at the strain level remain a promising avenue for researchers. Although studies in the past demonstrated the applicability of PS-MS to discriminate bacteria at the strain level, no one has reported the strain-level differentiation of a

Potential for biocontrol of melanized fungi by actinobacteria isolated from intertidal region of Ilha Do Mel, Paraná, Brazil.

Actinobacteria occur in many environments and have the capacity to produce secondary metabolites with antibiotic potential. Identification and taxonomy of actinobacteria that produce antimicrobial substances is essential for the screening of new compounds, and sequencing of the 16S region of ribosomal DNA (rDNA), which is conserved and present in all bacteria, is an important method of identification. Melanized fungi are free-living organisms, which can also be pathogens of clinical importance. This work aimed to evaluate growth inhibition of melanized fungi by actinobacteria and to identify t

Correlation of bacterial community with phosphorus fraction drives discovery of Actinobacteria involved soil phosphorus transformation during the trichlorfon degradation.

Trichlorfon (TCF) is a broad-spectrum phosphorus (P)-containing pesticide, yet its effects on soil P fraction transformation and bacterial communities during the TCF degradation in soils is unknown. In this study, we investigated soil TCF degradation behavior at different contents of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg, and analyzed residual TCF contents and metabolites by gas chromatography mass spectrometry after 216-h incubation. Our results suggested that TCF was gradually degraded in soils and was be initially hydrolyzed to dichlorvos via P-C bond cleavage and then other P-containing metabolites. By an

Actinobacteria possessing antimicrobial and antioxidant activities isolated from the pollen of scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) grown on the Baikal shore.

Isolated ecosystems existing under specific environmental conditions have been shown to be promising sources of new strains of actinobacteria. The taiga forest of Baikal Siberia has not been well studied, and its actinobacterial population remains uncharacterized. The proximity between the huge water mass of Lake Baikal and high mountain ranges influences the structure and diversity of the plant world in Siberia. Here, we report the isolation of eighteen actinobacterial strains from male cones of Scots pine trees (Pinus sylvestris) growing on the shore of the ancient Lake Baikal in Siberia. In
