Allergic contact dermatitis of the face and hands occurring in a 37-year-old savings-bank employee was found to be due to non-occupational handling of Gaillardia cultivars. Additional self treatment with a body lotion containing extracts of Arnica worsened the skin lesions. Epicutaneous tests with different Gaillardia sesquiterpene lactones revealed spathulin to be the responsible sensitizer. Cross reactions were obtained with telekin, alantolactone, parthenolide, isoalantolactone and carabrone.

150 questionnaires as well as epicutaneous tests in 56 individuals from a total of 675 persons cultivating and selling ornamental plants at the largest German flower market revealed that half of those investigated were suffering from allergic contact dermatitis. INTRODUCTION: Medicinal plants and their preparations are of great interest to many patients with rheumatic diseases. In 2023 the German Society for Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology (DGRh) Committee for Complementary Medicine and Nutrition (KHE) began reviewing the scientific literature on selected phytotherapeutic agents and herbal preparations and examining their potential applications in rheumatology. Following the publication of the initial results in 2025, the evaluation of 13 additional phytotherapeutic agents took place later that same year.

This pilot investigation initiated a research-targeted systematic dental homeopathy data collection in the dental outpatient section in a government homeopathic hospital in West Bengal, India. One conventionally trained dentist and 3 homeopathic doctors collected data from 949 appointments of 411 patients over 3 months. Herbal treatments are becoming increasingly popular, and are often used for internal as well as dermatological conditions, both externally as well as orally. To investigate the frequency of Compositae sensitivity, the recently-developed sesquiterpene lactone mix (SL mix) was included in the standard patch test series.
