Assessing patterns of authorship of low- and middle-income countries in global commercial clinical trials in oncology.

Poor authorship practices in global health research may be a sign of unequal partnerships. Previous studies have shown that authors from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are frequently underrepresented in publications from global research collaborations between LMICs and high-income countries (HICs). To the best of our knowledge, the patterns of authorship from LMICs in international industry-sponsored clinical research on breast, lung and colon cancer have not yet been investigated. Therefore, as a spin-off to broader research on globalization of commercial clinical trials in oncology

Cochrane reviews' authorship has become more gender-diverse but remains geographically concentrated: a meta-research study.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to examine the distribution of country, region, language, and gender diversity in the authorship of Cochrane reviews and compare it to non-Cochrane systematic reviews. STUDY DESIGN AND SETTING: We retrieved all published articles from the Cochrane Library (until November 6, 2023) using a web crawling technique that extracted prespecified data fields, including publication date, review category, and author affiliations. For comparison, non-Cochrane systematic reviews were identified through PubMed using E-utility calls. We determined the country, region of

Trends in authorship in medical teacher: A 20-year review of regionality and gender indicates slow and unsteady progress.

INTRODUCTION: Publishing in medical education journals contributes to global discussions on how to train health professionals and, at an individual level, is important for career advancement. However, some groups are under-represented in medical education scholarship - especially those from the 'global south' and, historically, women. To examine this further, we carried out a bibliometric analysis of twenty years of Medical Teacher data to identify geographic and gender differences in representation among the journal authorship, and to identify any visible impacts of relevant editorial policy

Human-AI emotional resonance in generative music: a mini-review of authorship attribution, affective response, and aesthetic evaluation.

Generative artificial intelligence is increasingly involved in music creation, raising important questions about how listeners emotionally respond to music that is generated by, or attributed to, AI. This mini-review synthesizes recent empirical research on listeners' emotional, aesthetic, and physiological responses to AI-generated music. Existing evidence suggests that AI systems can reproduce some acoustic cues associated with basic emotional categories and may elicit measurable affective or attentional responses under specific conditions. However, listeners' evaluations are shaped not only

The Glass Wall: Gendered Authorship Disparities in CD 19 and BCMA CAR-T Clinical Trials for Lymphoma and Myeloma.

INTRODUCTION: Existing literature suggests that women are significantly underrepresented in the field of hematology-oncology. Women make up 35.6% of hematologists and data on females as site investigators for pivotal trials and authors in publications of pivotal trials in hematologic malignancies, specifically in the novel niche of Chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T), is sparse. METHODS: We examined the proportion of women in pivotal trials, screening a total of 2180 studies from PubMed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. 2180

Equity and representation in cardiology research: A comprehensive analysis of authorship from low and low-middle income countries in cardiology journals.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality, disproportionately affecting low-income and low-middle-income countries (LICs/LMICs). Despite this, cardiology research commonly comes from affluent regions. This study assessed the authorship trends from LICs/LMICs in cardiology journals listed in PubMed from 2000 to 2022. The World Bank list was used to classify countries. The total number of articles published in the 138 cardiology journals was 529,359. The percentage of articles that included at least one author affiliated with LICs/LMICs institutions was 0.11 % and 2.23 %, respecti

Assessing Large Language Models for Clinical Coding in Hand Surgery: Effect of Note Authorship, Prompt Design, and Diagnosis/Procedure Type.

BACKGROUND: This study sought to assess large language models' (LLM) ability to generate correct ICD-10 and CPT codes using clinical documentation, and to determine whether note authorship, prompt design, or diagnosis/procedure type affect LLM performance. We hypothesized that LLMs can code hand surgery clinic and surgical notes with greater than 80% accuracy. METHODS: Ninety patients evenly distributed across three orthopaedic hand surgeons and procedure types (cubital tunnel, carpal tunnel, and trigger finger release) were identified. Clinic and surgical notes were deidentified, and correct
