Data driven prediction of uranium in groundwater for environmental radioactivity surveillance.

Uranium occurrence in groundwater is governed by complex hydrogeochemical processes, yet routine monitoring remains analytically demanding. A dataset of 1295 groundwater samples collected from a coastal region of southeastern India during 2016-2025 was used to develop a machine learning framework for predicting uranium concentrations from routinely measured physicochemical parameters. Multi-threshold binary classification was implemented at 2, 15, and 30 µg L⁻1, representing precautionary, guideline, and regulatory levels, respectively. Advanced ensemble learning algorithms were evaluated unde

Reproducible benchmarking of four machine-learning classifiers on a large synthetic heart-disease competition dataset.

BACKGROUND: Public synthetic datasets enable transparent model comparison but cannot establish performance in clinical populations. We asked how four fixed classifiers compare under one leakage-controlled validation framework on a large synthetic heart-disease competition dataset. METHODS: The official training set contained 630,000 observations (44.83% outcome prevalence) and 13 predictors; the 270,000-row test set had no outcome labels. L2-regularized logistic regression, HistGradientBoosting, CatBoost, and LightGBM were evaluated using identical stratified five-fold outer splits. Logistic-

Utilization of advanced machine learning models for analysis of pharmaceutical cocrystals by prediction of solubility parameters using Dragonfly algorithm optimization.

Pharmaceutical cocrystals have emerged as an effective strategy for enhancing the solubility and bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs. The successful design of cocrystals largely depends on the selection of suitable coformers, which requires an understanding of the molecular interactions governing cocrystal formation during the process. The objective of this study was to develop robust machine learning models for predicting Hansen solubility parameters of pharmaceutical cocrystal using molecular descriptors generated from COSMO-RS and group contribution methods. A dataset consisting o

Rational Design of Single-Phase High-Entropy Oxides via Large Language Model Data Mining and Explainable Machine Learning.

The rational design of high-entropy oxides (HEOs) is currently hindered by the scarcity of structured property data in the scientific literature. In this work, we present an end-to-end materials informatics framework that couples large language model (LLM) data mining with interpretable machine learning to predict single-phase stability in HEOs. We deployed agents based on gpt-oss-120b to extract compositions, phases, and synthesis methods from unstructured scientific abstracts. Combined with regular-expression routines, the LLM-based agent achieved an accuracy of 96% in database generation de

Distinct diurnal drivers of estuarine pCO2 revealed by interpretable machine learning.

Pronounced diurnal differences in the partial pressure of CO2 (pCO2) in surface estuary waters are observed, and resolving these disparities is a prerequisite for improving regional carbon budget estimates. However, underlying drivers of pCO2 at the sub-daily scale remain poorly understood mainly due to nocturnal data gaps, which inherently restrict our predictive capacity. This study leverages automated high-frequency observations and constructs an XGBoost-SHAP framework based on Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) to decouple environmental drivers of

upsML: A high-accuracy machine learning classifier for predicting Plasmodium falciparum var gene upstream groups.

Plasmodium falciparum erythrocyte membrane protein 1 (PfEMP1), encoded by the hypervariable var gene family, is central to malaria pathogenesis, influencing both disease severity and immune evasion. Classifying var genes into upstream groups (upsA, upsB, upsC, upsE) is important for understanding parasite biology and clinical outcomes, but remains challenging, especially with partial sequences, such as the DBLα tag or RNA-Seq assemblies. We developed upsML, a machine-learning-based classifier trained on 2,530 curated var genes, to accurately assign upstream groups based on sequence features fr

Enhancing Arabica and Robusta coffee prices forecasting through machine learning approaches.

Machine learning was applied to predict Arabica and Robusta coffee prices 2-6 months ahead using climatic, production, and economic data from 2009 to 2025. SHAP analysis revealed that global and Brazilian stock levels, Vietnamese drought, Colombian rainfall, and U.S. dollar exchange rate were the most influential drivers of price variation, showing that even features with weak simple correlations can have high predictive power. We compared Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), Extreme Learning Machine (ELM), Random Forest (RF), XGBoost, and two stacking configurations (RF/XGBoost/ELM) and (RF/XGBoost),
