Fear of missing out and psychological well-being: Examining the dual pathways of problematic social media use and digital burnout.

The present study examined how fear of missing out (FoMO) relates to psychological well-being in a collectivist context through a sequential moderated mediation framework. Grounded in self-determination theory, the study assessed whether FoMO related to well-being indirectly via problematic social media use (PSMU) and digital burnout (emotional exhaustion), and whether free time management (FTM; goal-setting and evaluation) moderated these associations. Cross-sectional data were collected from 570 sports science undergraduates in Türkiye. Results indicated that (i) FoMO was positively associat

Psychological violence, subjective well-being, and burnout among healthcare workers: The roles of sleep disturbance and perceived occupational infection risk.

BACKGROUND: Psychological violence (PCV), which includes verbal abuse, bullying, intimidation, sexual harassment and ethnic discrimination, is the most frequently reported form of workplace violence in health care and a well-documented correlate of burnout. Healthcare workers (HCWs) in infectious disease services face this psychosocial hazard alongside two further, structurally persistent conditions: impaired recovery through disturbed sleep, and the appraised risk of acquiring infection at work. How these demands combine with workers' personal psychological resources is not well understood.

Only low-arousal emotions matter: grade-dependent mediation of academic emotions between psychological resilience and learning burnout in middle school.

BACKGROUND: Psychological resilience is known to reduce learning burnout, but it remains unclear whether low- versus high-arousal academic emotions mediate this relationship and whether such effects vary across grades. OBJECTIVE: This study examined the mediating roles of academic emotions and tested grade differences. METHOD: A cluster sample of 739 middle school students (grades 7-9) from urban and rural schools completed three validated scales assessing psychological resilience, learning burnout, and academic emotions (positive/negative × high/low arousal). Perceived fulfillment of multilevel psychological contract responsibilities, job burnout, and turnover intention among primary care physicians: a structural equation modeling analysis.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Primary care physicians face substantial occupational mental health challenges, including job burnout and turnover intention. Psychological contract theory conceptualizes employment relationships in terms of perceived reciprocal obligations, while the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model provides a complementary framework for understanding how work-related conditions may be associated with burnout. This study examined the structural associations among perceived fulfillment of multilevel psychological contract responsibilities, job burnout dimensions, and turnover inten

The association between data-driven training monitoring and athlete burnout: a chain-mediated indirect path between performance anxiety and psychological exhaustion.

INTRODUCTION: Data-driven training monitoring has enhanced the precision of training-load assessment, fatigue detection, and training regulation in competitive sport. However, continuous data collection, performance metric comparisons, and evaluative feedback may also constitute emerging sources of psychological stress for athletes. Drawing on the Technology Stress Generators Model, the Challenge-Hindrance Stressor Framework, and the Job Demands-Resources Model, this study examined the relationships among data-driven training monitoring stress (DTMS), evaluative anxiety, psychological exhausti

Technostress and learning burnout among nursing students: The protective roles of academic self-efficacy and psychological resilience - A cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: The rapid integration of digital modalities within contemporary nursing curricula has exposed student cohorts to unique psychological strains, prominently manifested as technostress. While technostress is known to accelerate learning burnout, the complex boundary conditions and moderating mechanisms through which internal cognitive assets-specifically academic self-efficacy-alter or shape this negative relationship remain insufficiently quantified. OBJECTIVE: This study established a hierarchical predictive framework and moderation model to quantify the impact of technostress on l

Social support, psychological capital, multidimensional job burnout, and turnover intention of primary medical staff: a path analysis drawing on conservation of resources theory.

BACKGROUND: Job burnout is a prevalent and emerging challenge in the primary medical system, causing mass turnover, especially of primary medical staff. Little attention has been paid to the different dimensions of job burnout (emotional exhaustion, personality disintegration, and reduced sense of achievement), which may hinder efforts to tackle high turnover intention among primary medical staff. From the perspective of conservation of resources theory, social support and psychological capital are basic resources with potential to diminish job burnout and thus lower turnover intention.
