INTRODUCTION: Vertebral augmentation techniques are widely reported and effective for vertebral body fractures related to the thoracic and lumbar spine. However, techniques for accessing the cervical spine for vertebral augmentation purposes are limited. Historical approaches lack image guidance and/or involve open surgery. Our case involves a previously unreported, fully image-guided approach to the second cervical vertebra for ablation and vertebroplasty.

Background: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and cementoplasty, individually and in concert, has been adopted as palliative interventional strategies to reduce pain caused by bone metastases and prevent skeletal related events. We aim to evaluate the feasibility and safety of a steerable RFA device with an articulating bipolar extensible electrode for the treatment of extraspinal bone metastases. Methods: All data were retrospectively reviewed. All the ablation procedures were performed using a steerable RFA device (STAR, Merit Medical Systems, Inc., South Jordan, UT, USA). The pain was assessed

We present the case of a 49-year-old man with chronic right-sided low back pain and radicular pain extending to the right foot, initially diagnosed with a chondromyxoid fibroma of the right iliac bone. Despite conservative management, the patient experienced severe intractable pain. He ultimately underwent a minimally invasive radiofrequency ablation and iliac augmentation, resulting in significant symptom relief and fracture prevention. This case report highlights the importance of comprehensive assessment and advanced interventional techniques in managing rare bone tumors.

OBJECTIVES: Palliative treatment options for bone metastasis are limited, especially in cases where standard protocols have already failed. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of percutaneous ablation, either by cryoablation or radiofrequency, combined with percutaneous cementoplasty using cone-beam guided navigation. The objective was to relieve symptoms and improve functionality in patients suffering from pain secondary to bone metastases, as well as evaluate local disease progression post ablation.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study of 13 patients (av

INTRODUCTION: Percutaneous cementoplasty (PC) has been widely used for the stabilization of impending fractures of the proximal femur due to metastatic lesions. Augmented percataneous cementoplasty (APC) with fixation devices aims to improve mechanical consolidation and stability of the construct. However, the clinical benefit of the combined technique has not been clearly established. The purpose of the current review was to compare the efficacy between APC and PC for impending pathologic proximal femoral fractures from metastatic malignancy, in terms of pain relief, operative time and fractu

OBJECTIVE: Minimally invasive percutaneous cement injection is a valuable palliative method for managing symptomatic pelvic bone metastases in patients with advanced cancer, offering pain relief. However, despite its efficacy, the associated safety profile - particularly the risk of pulmonary cement embolism - is poorly understood. This study aimed to identify the mechanisms and risk factors of pulmonary cement embolism to provide clinical guidance for its prevention.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data from 208 patients who underwent percutaneous cementoplasty for pelvic metastatic lesions between 2

Background and Clinical Significance: Bone involvement is a common and debilitating manifestation of advanced malignancies, with a substantial negative impact on patients' functional status, quality of life, and overall prognosis. Management is primarily palliative and may include several locoregional approaches such as radiotherapy, surgical stabilization, cementoplasty, thermal or cryoablation, and high-intensity focused ultrasound. Electrochemotherapy (ECT) is an emerging non-thermal ablative technique that combines limited invasiveness with short procedural times and a favorable safety pro

BACKGROUND: Treatment of symptomatic lumbar disc herniation with Modic type I endplate changes is complex and challenging, requiring systemic and local therapies which include conservative therapy, epidural infiltrations, percutaneous therapeutic techniques, and surgical options. The clinical management of symptomatic lumbar disc herniation involving Modic type I endplate changes is uniquely challenging because it requires alleviating pain caused by both the herniated disc and the endplate osteochondritis. Through different approaches, percutaneous lumbar discectomy (PLD) and percutaneous ceme
