Patient Activation, Patient-Physician Communication Quality, and Cancer-Related Fatigue: A Longitudinal Study of Cancer Survivors.

OBJECTIVE: Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is highly prevalent and often insufficiently addressed in routine survivorship care. This study examined whether patient activation and patient-physician communication quality in early survivorship are associated with subsequent CRF among cancer survivors. METHODS: The observational German LIFT study enrolled 1175 adult survivors of various cancer types. CRF was assessed 4-6, 9, 12, and 24 months post-diagnosis using the EORTC QLQ-FA12. Patient activation was assessed with the German Patient Activation Measure (PAM-13-D (PAM)) and communication quality

Caregiver communication and psychosocial outcomes among adolescents and young adults with sickle cell disease.

OBJECTIVE: The transition from pediatric to adult medical care is associated with increased symptoms of anxiety, depression, and experiences with disease stigma for adolescents and young adults (AYA) with sickle cell disease (SCD). Community-informed conceptual frameworks suggest that caregiver communication could play an important role in enhancing AYA well-being during this critical period; yet this association has yet to be empirically investigated in this population. This study examined the influence of caregiver-AYA communication on psychosocial outcomes among AYA with SCD. METHODS: AYA

Communication channel preference for raising rabies awareness among dog owners in Thailand: A nationwide study.

Rabies is a severe zoonotic disease with potentially fatal consequences. Effective communication channels are crucial for disseminating key rabies prevention and control messages to target populations. This study examined how dog owners' demographic factors influenced communication channels in Thailand. We distributed a questionnaire survey to retrieve general demographic data of participants and the ranks of their communication channels. We used the mean ranking score to assess the most accessible and commonly used platforms. Univariate and multiple logistic regression methods were used to de

Communication Experiences of Neurological Voice Disorder Patients With Automatic Voice Assistants and Human Listeners.

OBJECTIVES: Automated voice assistants (AVAs) are increasingly important to modern communication. Neurological voice disorders (NVDs) impair voice quality and speech intelligibility, leading to communication challenges. Although dysphonia disrupts communication with human listeners, the communication experience with AVA is unknown for individuals with NVDs. This study aimed to investigate self-reported communication experiences across AVA and human interactions for individuals with NVDs. STUDY DESIGN: Cross-sectional METHODS: The patient group comprised individuals with NVDs who were planning

Analysis of outcomes for communication mode in cochlear implant in prelingually deafened adults.

OBJECTIVE: Recent studies have suggested that speech perception outcomes after cochlear implantation (CI) in prelingually deafened adults have improved with advances in CI technology and speech processing strategies. However, the outcomes vary from case to case. Communication mode has been reported in many studies as the factor that related to the post CI outcomes. This study aimed at investigating the post CI outcomes and the progress during 2 years for each communication mode. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The subjects were 17 prelingually deafened adults undergoing CI at our hospital between April

How do stroke survivors with communication difficulties manage life after stroke in the first year? A qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Interest in how stroke survivors might be better supported to manage life after stroke has grown rapidly in recent years, with a particular emphasis on enabling 'self-management'. Post-stroke communication difficulties may pose a unique barrier to longer term adaptation and adjustment. It is important to understand how stroke survivors with communication difficulties manage life after stroke and what support may be needed to facilitate this process. AIMS: To explore how stroke survivors with communication difficulties manage life after stroke in the first year. METHODS & PROCEDUR
