Infectious Endocarditis With Subarachnoid Hemorrhage and Cerebral Infarction in an Atopic Dermatitis Patient During Unsanitary Cupping Therapy.

A 23-year-old man with a history of untreated atopic dermatitis (AD) presented with a headache and fever. The patient history revealed that he purchased a medical cupping kit on the internet and performed cupping therapy at the flexion of the right elbow joint without disinfecting. Brain computed tomography revealed subarachnoid hemorrhage in the right frontal sulcus, and brain magnetic resonance imaging indicated a small cerebral infarction. Cardiac ultrasonography revealed a mobile cord-shaped echo in the posterior apex of the mitral valve, which was later diagnosed as infectious endocarditi

Is There a Role of Cupping Therapy in the Treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in Primary Care Setting?

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a clinical syndrome, which causes significant morbidity. It is currently managed conservatively with splinting or steroidal injections. Where conservative management is unsatisfactory, surgical decompression is carried out. Because of dangerous complications of surgical procedures and increasing economical burden of CTS condition, safe, traditional, cost effective conservative adjunct option is being evaluated in this review article. Cupping therapy is an ancient but increasingly popular therapy for a variety of pathologies. Studies over the last decade have ind

Does wet-cupping therapy improve repeated sprint ability, perceived wellness, and rating of perceived exertion in young active males?

Wet-cupping therapy (WCT) is one of the oldest known medical techniques, used as a traditional and complementary therapy with a wide application all around the world for general health. Research on the effects of WCT on sports performance are sparse and inconsistent. Thus, we aimed to explore the effects of WCT on repeated sprint ability, wellness, and exertion in young active males. Forty-nine active adult males (age: [28 ± 5] years; body height [177 ± 8] cm; body mass: [79 ± 7] kg; body mass index: [25.4 ± 1.8] kg/m2) were selected for the study.
