Nine patients who presented with acute lymphoid leukemia of mature B-cell phenotype without FAB-L3 morphology are discussed. All patients were male with a median age of 69 years. All patients had extensive bone marrow involvement at presentation with lymphoid leukemic cells in the peripheral blood. Six patients had extramedullary disease and 3 developed meningeal involvement sometime during the course of their illness. Lymphoblastic lymphoma (LBL) is a rare hematologic malignancy that originates from immature lymphocytes and usually expresses terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT). Here, we report a case of TdT-negative B-LBL. A 71-year-old male patient presented to a hospital with shortness of breath. His chest computed tomography showed a mediastinal mass. Tumor cells did not express TdT but expressed MIC2, which led to LBL diagnosis. MIC2 is a useful marker for LBL diagnosis.

We identified retinal ganglion cells undergoing apoptosis, a form of programmed cell death, in an eye of a 70-year-old man with anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. This study developed a highly sensitive fluorescence biosensor based on an Endo IV-fluorescent probe cascade amplification system, achieving a three-tier signal amplification. The detection limit is 9.6 × 10-5 U μL-1, with a linear range of 0-0.3 U μL-1. In 15 children transplanted with allogeneic bone marrow for acute leukemia and in complete remission, regeneration of the early stages of the B cell system was studied. After observation of a 10 month-old infant hospitalised for acute thrombopenia associated with signs of marked radiological hyperostosis, the initial medullograms showed a rich bone marrow free of blast cells. Subsequent complications of the thrombopenia were anemia, neutropenia and circulating blastosis. Marrow aspirations at various sites were unsuccessful. X-rays showed a worsening of the conditions and the child suffers attacks of intense pain. Ultrastructural cytochemistry and Tdt disclosed by immunofluorescence showed that the majority of blasts possessed Tdt and 2-3% were PPO positive.
