Rubber dam isolation--key to success in diastema closure technique with direct composite resin.

The use of direct composite resin for diastema closure has technique advantages, including that the restorative procedure can be carried out in one appointment at a reasonable cost and without the removal of sound tooth structure. The use of a rubber dam for closing diastemas with composite resin is of paramount importance as it prevents moisture contamination and ensures increased gingival retraction compared to other techniques. This provides better access to the cervical area of the tooth, facilitating proper placement of resin to recreate the natural anatomical contours and contact point.

The 'marginal ridge sculpture' technique for anterior composite veneers. Clinical application in generalized diastemas.

AIM: The objective of the present study was to close multiple diastemas. This presents a significant challenge for clinicians, given the esthetic considerations and the need for precise replication of various types of tooth tissue. While direct composite resin layering is a demanding technique, it proves to be a viable approach for reshaping tooth anatomy. This article outlines a sculpting technique designed for anterior composite veneers, emphasizing the importance of marginal ridge reconstruction preceding the enamel buccal increment. CLINICAL CONSIDERATIONS: This report details the clos-ur

Prevalence of artificially created maxillary midline diastema and its complications in a selected nigerian population.

BACKGROUND: Maxillary midline diastema (MMD) is generally regarded as a symbol of beauty in Nigeria. The desperation to look beautiful has caused many individuals to seek the creation of artificial midline diastema and that comes often with undesirable side effects. AIM: To determine the prevalence of artificially created maxillary midline diastema (MMD) and its complications in a selected Nigerian population. METHOD: A cross-sectional study using a semi-structured questionnaire as the instrument for data collection was done among patients attending a private clinic in Owerri the capital of

[Correlations between the presence of a mesiodens and position abnormalities, diastemas, and eruption disturbances of maxillary frontal teeth].

A mesiodens is often diagnosed coincidentally during a radiological examination. However, a mesiodens may also be diagnosed in relation to a clinically identified central diastema and an eruption disturbance, or a rotation of a central incisor. In this study of a group of 162 children and adolescents varying in age from 4 to 18 years, with a mesiodens, the frequency of position abnormalities, diastemas, and eruption disturbances of the maxillary frontal teeth was registered retrospectively. One or more of these complications was diagnosed in 72% of the patients. Usually, removal of the mesiode

Alveolar bone grafting in the treatment of midline alveolar cleft and diastema in incomplete median cleft lip.

Median cleft lip is a rare congenital anomaly. The wide diastema with mesial tipping observed in these patients has been largely overlooked. A midline submucosal alveolar cleft prevents adequate treatment. The purpose of this article is to describe an alveolar bone grafting (ABG) technique used in the combined surgical-orthodontic approach to diastema treatment in patients presenting with incomplete median cleft lip. Patients treated for incomplete median cleft lip and diastema were identified in the clinic registry from 1981 to 2007. Six patients were identified; 4 underwent ABG before perman

[Digital technology-assisted direct bonding restoration with composite resin for maxillary anterior diastema accompanied with malocclusion: a case report].

The development and clinical application of digital technology have made it possible to accurately restore anterior diastema with malocclusion using composite resin. This paper reported a complex case of digital technology-assisted direct bonding restoration with composite resin for maxillary incisor diastema accompanied by abnormal axial inclination, midline deviation, and irregular alignment. In this case, the patient presented multiple dental aesthetic defects, including uneven diastema width, misaligned maxillary and mandibular midlines, and irregular anterior tooth arrangement. Three dimensionally printed template with an interproximal isolation design guide consecutive closure of multiple diastema with injectable resin composite.

OBJECTIVE: This article describes a novel 3D-printed template armed with interproximal matrices to isolate interproximal contact areas and guide injectable resin composite for consecutive closure of multiple diastema. CLINICAL CONSIDERATIONS: Among several treatment options proposed for diastema closure, direct resin composite is noninvasive and easy to repair. The "composite injection technique" has been introduced to improve time efficiency and reduce technique sensitivity for clinicians. However, in the case of multiple diastema, the overflow of excess resin materials onto the adjacent tee
