Medical AI Use Intention Among Medical Students and Faculty and Its Associations With AI Literacy, Perceived Benefits, and Risks: Cross-Sectional Survey Study.

BACKGROUND: AI is being increasingly integrated into health care and medical education. Although AI literacy is considered an essential competency for future physicians and educators, limited evidence exists regarding how perceived benefits, perceived risks, and AI literacy jointly influence AI use intention among different learner groups. OBJECTIVE: This study examined the factors associated with AI use intention among medical students and faculty members and investigated whether the relationships between AI literacy and AI use intention differed according to learner group. METHODS: A cross

Faculty Training to Enhance Medical Education: Evaluating Laboratory Instructors at the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH).

Background Medical education is essential for training competent healthcare professionals capable of addressing evolving patient needs. Faculty development plays a crucial role in improving teaching quality and supporting competency-based education (CBE), particularly in Honduras, where reforms aim to modernize medical curricula. Despite a long history of medical training, formal, standardized faculty development programs remain limited, with many instructors relying on informal, unstandardized training. This study evaluates the impact of a structured faculty development program designed to st

Comparing Peer-Taught Student Tutors to Faculty-Taught Student Tutors in Educating Medical Students on Musculoskeletal Ultrasound.

INTRODUCTION: In recent years, medical education has witnessed a shift in the integration of ultrasound into the preclinical years of medical school. Given the exponential increase in accessibility to ultrasound technology, students now have the opportunity to create peer learning groups in which ultrasound concepts can be taught from peer to peer, empowering students to work together to integrate ultrasound concepts early in their preclinical education. This project investigates the efficacy of peer-taught student tutors (PTSTs) in imparting the fundamentals of basic ultrasound techniques to

Medical students' experiences of professional lapses and patient rights abuses in a South African health sciences faculty.

PURPOSE: To elicit South African medical students' experiences of witnessing patient rights abuses and professional lapses during their clinical training in order to inform an appropriate and effective response. METHOD: During June and July 2009 at the University of Cape Town Faculty of Health Sciences, the authors surveyed 223 fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-year medical students in selected clinical rotations concerning abuses they had observed. Volunteers were later interviewed individually. The authors coded interview transcripts for key themes using a constant-comparative grounded theory appr

How to assess and improve quality of medical education: lessons learned from Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo.

There is no such science as medicine where half life is 7 years, what means that in 3-4 years 50% of current knowledge will be wrong. If doctors use old techniques and methods then they will cure patients wrongly. Very fast and rapid increase of biomedical sciences and medical information in certain way force medical professionals to continuity learning in order to stay update. In this project a quantitative method of examination has been used. For the purposes of the research a survey questionnaires were created consisted of 28, 35 and 18 questions for all three groups of examinees. Beside ge

[Results of rectal resection procedures at the First Surgical Clinic of the First Medical Faculty of Charles University].

Conventional surgical techniques play an important role in rectal cancer. Dehiscence of the anastomosis after low anterior resection of the rectum is a serious complication. The incidence of dehiscences can be reduced when known principles of preoperative care are respected but in particular by correct surgical technique. In 92 patients operated for rectal cancer at First Surgical Clinic of Charles University we had six patients (6.5%) with dehiscences of anastomosis. The serious character of this surgical complication can be reduced by a primary derivative stomy. Authors recommend implementin

Learning together: a narrative review of external resources for medical education through a shared student-faculty lens.

External resources, defined as commercial learning resources typically found online and not created by academic institutions, are increasingly utilized by students in medical education. As the use of external resources continues to grow, there is a need to understand their appropriate place within medical education and for faculty members to continue to integrate such resources into the existing medical curricula. A gap in the literature exists regarding the role of such resources within formal medical education. This narrative review identifies factors contributing to the use of external reso

Educational needs in neuro-oncology: Insights from the European Society for Medical Oncology Central Nervous System Faculty Survey.

BACKGROUND: Primary central nervous system (CNS) tumors are rare malignancies with limited treatment options, resulting in high mortality. Unlike other solid tumors, CNS tumors present unique challenges that impact the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of patients and caregivers. Effective management requires balancing oncologic treatment with the control of neurocognitive deficits, epilepsy, and other neurological symptoms. METHODS: The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) CNS Faculty conducted a consensus process to identify the most pressing educational priorities for physicia

Faculty Members' Perspective on Virtual Interviews for Medical Residency Matching during the COVID-19 Crisis: A National Survey.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, conducting face-to-face medical residency interviews was challenging due to infection prevention precautions, social distancing, and travel restrictions. Virtual interviews were implemented by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) as an alternative process for residency matching while striving to maintain the same quality standards. This national survey was conducted to assess the satisfaction and perceptions of faculty members' virtual interview performance in the assessment for the medical training residency programs. Among the participating 173 fa
