Fourteen years of manifestations and factors of health insurance fraud, 2006-2020: a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Healthcare fraud entails great financial and human losses; however, there is no consensus regarding its definition, nor is there an inventory of its manifestations and factors. The objective is to identify the definition, manifestations and factors that influence health insurance fraud (HIF). METHODS: A scoping review on health insurance fraud published between 2006 and 2020 was conducted in ACM, EconPapers, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Springer and WoS. RESULTS: Sixty-seven studies were included, from which we identified 6 definitions, 22 manifestations (13 by the medical prov

Flow Injection Analysis-Mass Spectrometry for the fast detection of frauds in Coleus forskohlii food supplements.

Coleus forskohlii supplements (FKSs) are widely consumed for their obesity-preventing effects, mainly related to forskolin, its main bioactive compound. However, these supplements are susceptible to adulteration and various types of frauds have been described. Therefore, the development of rapid and sensitive methodologies is of great interest in order to determine the quality of these products. In this work, a new method by Flow Injection Analysis-Mass Spectrometry (FIA-MS) has been developed and validated for the detection of potential frauds in FKSs. A Box-Behnken experimental design was us

A rapid and high-throughput fraud detection method of Philippine coconut wine (lambanog) using 1H qNMR spectroscopy.

Methanol contamination of the Philippine coconut spirit lambanog (often called coconut wine) is the major cause of lambanog-related deaths in the country. Hence, a strict quality control and detection method must be established for methanol in tandem with ethanol analysis. In this study, a quantitative Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy (qNMR) method using 1H analysis was developed to quantify the methanol and ethanol in 26 lambanog samples collected from four different provinces in Luzon, Philippines. A certified qNMR standard was used as an internal standard for the 1H NMR analyses to i

Robust multi-class DDoS and fraud detection using a Context-Adaptive Deep Evolutionary Game Framework with CNN-BiGRU.

Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks have become a serious threat in modern computer networks, which can commonly be integrated with other types of attacks to evade detection by conventional devices. Existing deep learning-based intrusion detection methods have high identification capability. However, they are also highly susceptible to adversarial attacks, in which even slight perturbations to features can fool the model into misclassification. To address these issues, this study introduced a hybrid deep learning framework. It integrates Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Bidirec

Psychosocial characteristics of victims of special fraud among Japanese older adults: A cross-sectional study using scam vulnerability scale.

Despite the police preventing special fraud victimisation of older adults, both the number of cases and the amount of damage have remained high in Japan. 'Special fraud', in Japan, is a crime in which victims are tricked by fraudsters who through phone or postcards impersonate the victims' relatives, employees and other associates, to dupe the victims of their cash or other valuables. The number of recognised cases of special fraud has been turned to increase in 2021. Although police or consumer affairs administrations have been conducting all-encompassing enlightenment or public education for
