BACKGROUND: Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a common and disabling condition that causes shoulder pain and progressive stiffness. Patient information leaflets (PILs) are produced by UK National Health Service (NHS) Trusts to help patients understand frozen shoulder and treatment options. However, the content and consistency of these PILs and their alignment with national clinical guidance are currently unclear.
OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to identify, analyse and describe the non-surgical management recommendations presented in publicly available NHS Trust PILs for fro

BACKGROUND: The cervical screening programme in Bangladesh upgraded its electronic health information system (e-HIS) in 2019 using DHIS2 tracker application. The upgraded e-HIS collects individual level data and has useful functionalities like sending SMS reminders. Also, the system facilitates data linkage between community clinics, VIA (visual inspection with acetic acid) screening centers, and colposcopy clinics using a unique national identifier. Our present mixed-method study aimed to perform an in-depth assessment of functioning of the new s-HIS and recommend measures to overcome the imp

BACKGROUND: Diet and nutrition management is an integral component of Crohn disease (CD) management. This type of management is highly variable and individualized and, thus, requires personalized approaches. Consumer health information technology (CHIT) designed to support CD management has typically supported this task as everyday life work and, not necessarily, as illness work. Moreover, CHIT has rarely supported the ways in which diet and nutrition management requires coordination between multiple forms of patient work.
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to investigate diet and nutri

BACKGROUND: The Camden and Islington Impact Personality Disorder Project provided psychologically informed consultation and training to probation staff in a Public Protection Unit and staff in two 'approved premises' (probation hostels) working with high-risk prison sentenced offenders on licence in the community; some direct therapeutic work was also conducted jointly with probation officers. Most of the offenders had behaviours associated with personality disorder, although had not necessarily received a diagnosis of personality disorder.

BACKGROUND: The global community has set an ambitious goal to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Significant progress has been achieved in pursuing these objectives; however, concerns remain regarding the lack of disaggregated routine data for key populations (KPs) for a targeted HIV response. KPs include female sex workers, transgender populations, gay men and other men who have sex with men, people who are incarcerated, and people who use drugs. From an epidemiological perspective, KPs play a fundamental role in shaping the dynamics of HIV transmission due to specific behaviors.

INTRODUCTION: Diabetic foot is a major burden and threat to individuals, families and society, making it imperative to promote good self-management behaviour. However, although nurses have provided these patients with excellent health knowledge, their self-management remains unsatisfactory. Although researches have shown that self-management requires family involvement, no research has been conducted in China on family function, specifically in the diabetic foot. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the relationship between self-management, family functioning, and health information adoption

I n t r o d u c t i o n: The COVID-19 pandemic has put healthcare systems worldwide under huge strain, resulting in a significant loss of their capacity and availability. Patients have become more reluctant to contact their doctors or call an ambulance in case of myocardial infarction (MI) symptoms onset. It has been accompanied by a significant decrease in the number of coronary angiography and PCI procedures performed. O b j e c t i v e s: The aim of the study is to evaluate the role of online health information in the patient- dependent phase of MI management during the COVID-19 lockdown in

BACKGROUND: Individuals with low socioeconomic status experience higher prevalence and worse outcomes of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We undertook a quality improvement initiative at our safety net hospital in which a nurse practitioner (NP)/community health worker (CHW) team followed patients with COPD, frequent admissions, and unmet SDOH needs from hospitalization through one month post-discharge. We report our mixed methods approach to inform development and preliminary evaluation of this intervention.
METHODS: We first assessed characteristics of patients admitted with CO

BACKGROUND: HEARTS in the Americas is the regional adaptation of the WHO Global HEARTS Initiative. This paper presents Phase 3 of HEARTS 2.0, an evidence-informed process to prioritize clinical and health-system interventions to support the operationalization of integrated cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic (CKM) care in primary health care (PHC) and to inform the update of the HEARTS Clinical Pathway. CKM conditions frequently coexist, sharing common risk factors and pathophysiological mechanisms that exacerbate cardiovascular disease burden. Despite their overlap, clinical practice often

Background Many barriers exist to the appropriate recognition and management of life-threatening adrenal crisis in the emergency department (ED). Clinical decision support (CDS) is a health information technology (IT) component that provides useful information to providers as healthcare is being delivered. We hypothesized that CDS incorporated into the electronic health record (EHR) could improve the recognition and management of adrenal crisis within the pediatric ED. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the impact of electronic CDS on the management of patients with known adrenal insufficienc

Background/Objectives: Type 2 diabetes is a prevalent chronic disease that requires continuous self-management and adaptation by both individuals and their families. Health literacy is recognised as an important determinant of chronic disease management, influencing the ability to access, understand, and use health information. This study aimed to explore how family health literacy and family functioning were related to type 2 diabetes self-management across four family cases in the context of informal caregiving and to describe the changes observed following tailored family nursing interventi

BACKGROUND: Pressure injuries (PrI) are serious complications for many with spinal cord injury (SCI), significantly burdening health care systems, in particular the Veterans Health Administration. Clinical practice guidelines (CPG) provide recommendations. However, many risk factors span multiple domains. Effective prioritization of CPG recommendations has been identified as a need. Bioinformatics facilitates clinical decision support for complex challenges. The Veteran's Administration Informatics and Computing Infrastructure provides access to electronic health record (EHR) data for all Vete
