[A model for the development of a reimbursement system for home health care--based on the concept of nursing cost].

The reimbursement system for nursing services needs to be set up before beginning of the home health care system. One thing we should consider as a premise in developing a reimbursement system for home health care is that the fee-schedule of home health care should be based on the cost of unit service, since the medical reimbursement system in Korea basically depends upon the concept of 'fees for service'. A model for the development of the fee schedule was designed to make some contribution to the reimbursement system for home health care, which should be prepared before the enhancement of a

Older People Living in Nursing Homes: An Oral Health Screening Survey in Florence, Italy.

The oral health state plays an important role in the concept of 'elderly frailty', since institutionalized older people are prone to suffering from bad oral conditions. The aim of this study is to assess the state of oral health in the older residents of nursing homes and to measure its potential association with the cognitive state, the degree of functional autonomy, and the malnutrition risk. Methods: We enrolled 176 subjects from 292 residents in five nursing homes in Florence. For each subject, we performed the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool, the Pfeiffer test, the Minimum Data Set-

Influenza Vaccination Coverage Among Nursing Home Residents and Health Care Personnel - United States, 2024-25 Influenza Season.

Nursing home residents and health care personnel (HCP) are at increased risk for exposure to influenza; in addition, residents of nursing homes who acquire influenza are at increased risk for severe disease. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends routine annual seasonal influenza vaccination for persons without contraindications, including HCP and those at increased risk for severe influenza. Nursing homes report influenza vaccination among residents and HCP to CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network. This report describes influenza vaccination coverage among nursing home

The sleep patterns and their associations with mental health among nursing home residents: a latent profile approach.

BACKGROUND: Nursing home residents commonly experience poor sleep conditions. However, few studies have explored the potential sleep patterns among nursing home residents. This study aimed to identify the sleep patterns in nursing home residents, compare residents' characteristics across sleep patterns, and examine the relationships between sleep patterns and residents' mental health (i.e., depressive and anxiety symptoms). METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 27 nursing homes in Jinan, China, from March to June 2018. In total, 353 participants were recruited via convenience s

Stroke-related health problems and associated actions identified with the post-stroke checklist among nursing home residents.

BACKGROUND: Little is known about the needs of permanent nursing home residents after a stroke; comprehensive descriptions of needs are rare. The Post-Stroke Checklist facilitates the identification of health problems. The study aimed to use the Post-Stroke Checklist to identify the extent of health problems, and how they were addressed, in nursing home residents that experienced strokes in Sweden. We also investigated the feasibility of the Checklist in a nursing home context. METHODS: This is a cross-sectional explorative study. Twenty nursing homes in two regions of Sweden participated. We

Health-care professionals' views of the effectiveness of pressure ulcer treatments. A survey among nursing-home physicians, dermatologists and nursing staff in The Netherlands.

In a survey, 237 nursing-home physicians, 113 dermatologists, and 164 supervisory nurses in nursing homes rated 30 treatments for stage III pressure ulcers by scoring their effectiveness. On average, there seems to be a fair degree of consensus between these groups of health-care workers about the effectiveness of most treatments. The most notable exceptions are ultraviolet light, ultrasound, and laser therapy and myocutaneous flap operations. Here, the dermatologists disagree with both nursing-home physicians and nurses. However, within all specialties there is disagreement about the efficacy

A preventive care approach for oral health in nursing homes: a qualitative study of healthcare workers' experiences.

BACKGROUND: Oral health problems are common among care-dependent older adults living in nursing homes. Developing strategies to prevent the deterioration of oral health is therefore crucial to avoid pain and tooth loss. A standardized work widely used in nursing homes in Sweden is the quality register Senior Alert (SA), which assesses age-related risks concerning e.g. pressure sores, falls, malnutrition and oral health. The oral health assessment is performed with the Revised Oral Assessment Guide-Jönköping (ROAG-J), which also includes planning and implementation of preventive oral care inter

[Study on the occurrence of adverse health events in nursing homes : contributions from the Liège SENIOR cohort].

The SENIOR study followed a cohort of older people living in nursing homes for 8 years and examined their adverse health events. The results were analysed after 1, 3 and 8 years to identify predictive factors and improve care. After 1 year, residents with poorer motor and muscle function had a higher incidence of adverse health events such as death and falls. Sarcopenia predicted mortality, while poor physical performance was associated with falls. At 3 years, poor nutritional status and poor balance were important predictors of mortality, falls and loss of independence. At 8 years, younger ag
