Opisthorchis somatic, metabolic, and tegumental antigens were studied by using immunoblotting. It was shown that among several antigenic components, only the somatic protein with a molecular weight of about 100 kD failed to react with noninvased human sera.

The diagnosis of congenital syphilis in apparently healthy infants continues to be problematic. Immunoglobulin M antibodies specific for a subset of Treponema pallidum antigens have been detected by Western blotting (immunoblotting). In the present study we investigated the sensitivity and specificity of this method. A 1-year-old boy developed bullous pemphigoid. Immunoblotting, which has not been previously reported in childhood pemphigoid, showed the serum reacted to a 190 kDa band only. Bullous pemphigoid is rare in infancy and childhood with only 40 cases previously reported. A brief review of the literature is given and treatment of childhood bullous pemphigoid is discussed.

Sera from 18 patients with bullous pemphigoid (BP) and 20 controls (normal volunteers and patients with pemphigus) were tested against extracts of human epidermis by immunoblotting techniques. To perform IgG avidity immunoblotting assay for detection of acute toxoplasmosis, 100 serum samples were collected from Tehran, Iran.
