Critical exponents of block-block mutual information in one-dimensional infinite lattice systems.

We study the mutual information between two lattice blocks in terms of von Neumann entropies for one-dimensional infinite lattice systems. Quantum q-state Potts model and transverse-field spin-1/2 XY model are considered numerically by using the infinite matrix product state approach. As a system parameter varies, block-block mutual information exhibit singular behaviors that enable us to identify the critical points for the quantum phase transitions. As happens with von Neumann entanglement entropy of single block, at critical points, block-block mutual information for two adjacent blocks sho

Non-invasive brain stimulation in information systems research: A proof-of-concept study.

One of the founding experiments in the field of Neuro-Information-Systems (NeuroIS), which aims at exploring the neural correlates of the technology acceptance model, suggests that perceived ease of use (PEoU) is associated with activity in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) while perceived usefulness is associated with activity in the insula, caudate nucleus and anterior cingulate cortex. To further assess the link between DLPFC and PEoU, transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) was applied over bilateral DLPFC (F3 and F4) immediately before an online shopping task. Using geographical information systems and cartograms as a health service quality improvement tool.

INTRODUCTION: Disease prevalence can be spatially analysed to provide support for service implementation and health care planning, these analyses often display geographic variation. A key challenge is to communicate these results to decision makers, with variable levels of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) knowledge, in a way that represents the data and allows for comprehension. The present research describes the combination of established GIS methods and software tools to produce a novel technique of visualising disease admissions and to help prevent misinterpretation of data and less opt

Official information systems for cryptococcal meningitis, state of Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil.

The study aimed to compare the epidemiological profile of crytococcal meningitis in different information systems, thus assessing to what extent the profile available in the Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação (Information System for Notifiable Diseases) reflected cryptococcal meningitis occurrences in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Southeastern Brazil, between 2002 and 2004. That database was compared to a new database comprised of cryptococcal meningitis cases from this System, from the Assessoria de Meningite da Secretaria de Saúde do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (State Department of

Geographic information systems and the distribution of Schistosoma mansoni in the Nile delta.

New computer-based sensor technology and geographic methods have led to emerging interest in use of satellite environmental assessment tools for design of disease control programs, especially for those that are vector borne. The long-range goal of work reported here by John Malone and colleagues on behalf of this Egyptian Ministry of Health-USAID Schistosomiasis Research Project team (Box 1) is to utilize data from sensor systems on board earth-observing satellites to develop more-sensitive disease-prediction and -control models. If successful, methods developed may provide a potentially vital

State-Rate Bumpless Transfer Control for Quadrotor Systems Subject to Incomplete Statistics Information.

This article deals with the state-rate bumpless transfer control problem where the quadrotor systems suffer the synthetic effects produced by incomplete information of statistics, which includes hidden modes and a partially known semi-Markov kernel (S-MK). Upon modeling the stochastic uncertainties by a hidden semi-Markov chain (HS-MC), the inevitable bumps of quadrotor states caused by stochastic switching dynamics are taken into account. Provided that the state-rate bumpless transfer performance is considered in the design of control laws, an observed-mode-dependent control scheme is present

Implementation of digital tuberculosis information systems: perspectives from 10 high TB burden countries.

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global health crisis, with 10.8 million people diagnosed annually and 2.7 million cases going undetected in 2023. While TB digital health information systems offer promising solutions for detection and management in low- and middle-income countries, implementation effectiveness varies significantly across health system contexts. However, no studies have systematically examined implementation experiences across multiple high-burden countries using implementation science frameworks, leaving National TB Program (NTP) managers without evidence-based guidance for c

Surveillance of HIV assisted partner services using routine health information systems in Kenya.

BACKGROUND: The utilization of routine health information systems (HIS) for surveillance of assisted partner services (aPS) for HIV in sub-Saharan is sub-optimal, in part due to poor data quality and limited use of information technology. Consequently, little is known about coverage, scope and quality of HIV aPS. Yet, affordable electronic data tools, software and data transmission infrastructure are now widely accessible in sub-Saharan Africa. METHODS: We designed and implemented a cased-based surveillance system using the HIV testing platform in 18 health facilities in Kenya. The components

Using geographic information systems to track polio vaccination team performance: pilot project report.

The application of geospatial data to public health problems has expanded significantly with increased access to low-cost handheld global positioning system (GPS) receivers and free programs for geographic information systems analysis. In January 2010, we piloted the application of geospatial analysis to polio supplementary immunization activities (SIAs) in northern Nigeria. SIA teams carried GPS receivers to compare hand-drawn catchment area route maps with GPS tracks of actual vaccination teams. Team tracks overlaid on satellite imagery revealed that teams commonly missed swaths of contiguou

Immunization information systems use during a public health emergency in the United States.

Use of the Louisiana Immunization Network for Kids Statewide (LINKS) during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina saved parents and immunization providers' time, money, and the inconvenience of having to unnecessarily revaccinate children displaced both inside and outside Louisiana. This immunization information system remained online via a backup system following the hurricane, thereby making immunization history data available to queries from healthcare providers caring for displaced persons both within Louisiana and throughout the United States. LINKS contained immunization records for approxi

A process for contextualising digital health terminology standards for Uganda's health information systems: A use case of HIV information management services.

Background: Uniform interpretation of digital health messages is important to achieve semantic interoperability of electronic health information systems (eHIS). Whereas international digital health terminologies such as ICD, LOINC and SNOMED-CT exist, their design considerations regarding health processes, data collected, and technologies, among others do not necessarily match Uganda's eHIS contextual needs. Objective: This research aimed to design a process that could be used to contextualise international digital health terminologies for Uganda's eHIS. Methods: The Design Science approach wa

Fragmented Data, Fragmented Care: Strengthening Health Information Systems for Universal Health Coverage in Somalia.

Health information systems (HISs) are essential for achieving universal health coverage (UHC), yet Somalia's health sector remains constrained by fragmented data systems, weak interoperability, limited infrastructure, workforce shortages, and poor governance. This commentary examines the challenges undermining Somalia's digital health transformation and argues that fragmented information systems perpetuate fragmented healthcare delivery. Despite emerging reforms and adoption of digital platforms, such as DHIS2, progress toward UHC remains limited. This commentary draws on a narrative synthesis

Time series-based forecasting of infectious disease outbreak using information systems in public health.

INTRODUCTION: The escalating frequency of infectious disease outbreaks underscores the urgent need for reliable forecasting systems to support timely public health interventions. Existing approaches-ranging from statistical heuristics to black-box deep learning models-often lack domain awareness, adaptability, and interpretability, limiting their utility in dynamic outbreak scenarios. METHODS: This study proposes EpiCastNet, a forecasting framework that integrates spatiotemporal attention mechanisms with a hybrid encoding architecture to jointly model empirical patterns and rule-based constra
