The aim of this study is to identify factors associated with kinesiophobia in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). A total of 72 adult patients diagnosed with SSc were included in this cross-sectional study. Clinical parameters reflecting disease severity, organ involvement, and inflammatory status were recorded. Kinesiophobia level was assessed using the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK). The Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Y Balance Test (YBT), Timed Up and Go Test (TUG), and 10-Meter Walk Test (10MWT) were used to evaluate balance and functional capacity. Factors associated with kinesiophobi

BACKGROUND Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic immune-mediated disease of the central nervous system characterized by inflammation, demyelination, gliosis, and neuroaxonal loss. This study aimed to evaluate the factors associated with kinesiophobia (fear of movement) in multiple sclerosis patients, including disability, fatigue, anxiety, depression, physical activity, and quality of life. MATERIAL AND METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted in Prešov between March 2021 and March 2024 enrolling 148 patients with MS (105 women and 43 men; mean age 42.21±9.84 years; range 21-71). OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to determine balance, fall risk, and kinesiophobia in individuals with Alzheimer's Dementia (AD).
METHODS: The study was completed with 18 AD and 18 healthy AD-free control group with early or moderate-stage AD diagnosed by a neurologist. Socio-demographic characteristics of the individuals were assessed using an evaluation form, and their balance was evaluated using the Tinetti Balance and Gait Assessment Test, Timed Up and Go Test, and Single Leg Standing Test. The Falls Risk Self-Assessment Scale (FRSAS) was used to assess the risk of falls. Kinesiophobia was as

CONTEXT: Kinesiophobia is a substantial psychological factor that may impact sport performance and activities of daily living for individuals with chronic ankle instability (CAI). The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of kinesiophobia between collegiate athletes and nonathletes with and without CAI using quantitative and qualitative analyses.
DESIGN: Cross-sectional survey.
METHODS: A Qualtrics survey was distributed to college students. Ankle health status was evaluated using the Foot and Ankle Ability Measure Sport subscale, Identification of Functional Ankle Instability, a

To explore the kinesiophobia experience of patients with tumors after PICC catheterization and to analyze patients' views and true inner feelings about kinesiophobia, with the goal of providing a reference for reducing the occurrence of kinesiophobia and enhancing the experience of patients undergoing this procedure. A purposive sampling method was used to select patients with tumors that required the placement of a PICC line in a tertiary hospital in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, as the research object. A semistructured in-depth interview method was used for data collection, and the content

BACKGROUND: Several factors such as acute symptom severity, premorbid anxiety, and depression have been associated with concussion recovery. Elevated kinesiophobia has been associated with recovery from musculoskeletal conditions, as well as increased reaction time and vestibular-ocular motor dysfunction following concussion. However, kinesiophobia has yet to be evaluated as a modifier of concussion recovery time.
OBJECTIVES: This study was designed to evaluate the role of acute kinesiophobia levels on days until clinical recovery in collegiate athletes with concussion. We hypothesized that c

BACKGROUND: To report 2 different presentations of thoracic myelopathy with ossification of ligamantum flavum (OLF) due to fluorosis.
METHODS: Two females presented with thoracic myelopathy secondary to spinal stenosis with OLF due to fluorosis. On examination, the first patient had a grade 4 power in both lower limbs with altered sensation below L1 dermatome. She had segmental OLF on magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography and was treated with posterior thoracic laminectomy and recovered well. The second patient had a history of a prior thoracic laminectomy at another institution

The purpose of this study was to investigate how kinesiophobia fluctuates in patients over a four weeks multimodal rehabilitation program and to study the relationship between work ability and kinesiophobia. The study included 112 patients (94 women, 18 men). Measurements were made before, directly after, 2 months after, and 12 months after the program. The level of work ability was rated by the patients on a scale from 0% to 100%, and kinesiophobia was measured by the Swedish version of the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK-SV). Kinesiophobia decreased between the start of the multimodal reh

UNLABELLED: The aim of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of an abbreviated version of the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK) in a clinical sample of patients with chronic pain. Chronic pain patients (n = 276) seeking treatment at an interdisciplinary treatment center completed self-report questionnaires including the TSK-13, and 2 tests of physical functioning. Four competing models of the TSK were tested using confirmatory factor analysis. Internal consistency was assessed, as were discriminant evidence of construct validity and concurrent criterion-related validity.

BACKGROUND: Kinesiophobia may reduce participation in post-stroke rehabilitation and impede functional recovery, but its course after discharge and its clinical significance remain unclear. This study identified 6-month trajectories of kinesiophobia in patients with post-stroke hemiplegia and examined their associations with motor recovery and rehabilitation exercise adherence.
METHODS: In this single-center prospective longitudinal study, 296 patients with post-stroke hemiplegia were assessed at discharge and at 1, 3, and 6 months after discharge. Baseline discharge assessment occurred a mea

BACKGROUND: Chronic postsurgical pain remains a major hurdle in postoperative management, especially in patients undergoing shoulder surgery, for whom persistent pain rates are higher than for any other surgical site. Little is known about pain beliefs and attitudes as preoperative predictors of postoperative pain following nonarthroplasty shoulder surgery.
OBJECTIVES: We evaluated predictors of pain following nonarthroplasty shoulder surgery, hypothesizing that preoperative kinesiophobia, pain catastrophizing, and neuropathic pain scores are predictive of greater postoperative pain.

INTRODUCTION: Kinesiophobia, which refers to the fear of physical movement and activity due to vulnerability to injury, has been associated with suboptimal outcomes following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This study aimed to assess the impact of kinesiophobia on early functional outcomes after TKA.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cohort analysis was conducted on 60 participants aged 18 years and older. Detailed sociodemographic characteristics were recorded, and the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia was used to evaluate kinesiophobia. Pain intensity was measured using the Visual Analog Scale, knee flex
