Exploration of the Trichilia connaroides led to the isolation of 16 previously undescribed limonoids (1-16). Compounds 1 and 2 were characterized by polycyclic caged seco-phragmalin frameworks, while 8 possessed a trans-fused B/C ring system. An insect antifeedant bioassay against Spodoptera exigua demonstrated that compounds 2, 11, 12, and 16, at a concentration of 0.005 mg/cm2, exhibited potent antifeedant effects comparable to that of azadirachtin and showed no appreciable cytotoxicity toward murine AML12 hepatocytes.

Six new limonoids, named hainanxylogranolides A-F (1-6), together with nineteen known ones (7-25) were isolated from the seeds of a Hainan mangrove Xylocarpus granatum. Phytochemical study on 80% methanol extract from the seeds of Khaya ivorensis resulted into the isolation of three undescribed mexicanolide limonoids, ivorensisines A-C (1-3). Eight new limonoids, walsogynes H-O (1-8) were isolated from the barks of Walsura chrysogyne, and their structures were determined on the basis of the 1D and 2D NMR data. Azadirachtin, a major botanical insecticide, is widely recognized as a sustainable alternative to synthetic pesticides, yet the molecular mechanisms underlying its effects on insect hosts remain poorly understood. Klebsiella pneumoniae is a multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogen causing hospital-acquired infections with up to 50 % mortality. We report a total synthesis of the pyridine-containing limonoid alkaloid (-)-xylogranatopyridine B in 11 steps from commercially available dihydrocarvone. The central pyridine ring was assembled by a late-stage fragment coupling approach employing a modified Liebeskind pyridine synthesis. One fragment was prepared by an allyl-palladium catalyzed oxidative enone β-stannylation, in which the key bimetallic β-stannyl palladium enolate intermediate undergoes a β-hydride elimination. This methodology also allowed introduction of alkyl and silyl groups to the β-position of enones.
