[Pain in the lumbosacral region in pelvic congestion syndrome in women working under conditions of limited motor activity].

The paper deals with the problem of pain in L-S segment of the vertebral column in Pelvic Congestion Syndrome-Pcs. The study covers two groups of women. The studied group comprised 63 seamstresses being employed in piece-work system, requiring great concentration of their attention and precision in producing the elements. That was accompanied by monotony and hypokinesis. The control group was made up of 22 women working in the same material-labour conditions, but in non-compulsory position. The analysis was performed by resorting to specially elaborated method of gynaecological examination ele

Brachial and Lumbosacral Plexitis in Neuromelioidosis: Clinical and Magnetic Resonance Neurography Features from an Endemic Region in Southern India.

Melioidosis, which is caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei, involves the nervous system in up to 10% of cases and carries high mortality. Although cranial nerve involvement is described in neuromelioidosis, spinal nerve involvement and possible central nervous system spread through spinal nerves are rarely reported. After an index case with brachial plexus involvement, we screened all patients with neuromelioidosis admitted to our institute between November 2024 and April 2025 for spinal nerve and/or plexus involvement. Among 11 patients with neuromelioidosis, 4 had peripheral nerve and/or plex

Length relationships between vertebral column and spinal cord: differential contributions of the cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral regions.

PURPOSE: The localization of the human spinal cord (SC) segments remains a challenge without thorough post-mortem analysis and their relationship with the vertebrae has long been investigated. In this post-mortem study, we assessed the relationship between the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral lengths of the SC and of the vertebral column (VC). METHODS: Twenty human SCs were extracted from the vertebral canal. The cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral regional lengths of SC and VC were measured by two examiners. Statistical analyses included t-test, ANOVA, Fisher's exact test, Kruskal-Wal

Regional Targeting of Bladder and Urethra Afferents in the Lumbosacral Spinal Cord of Male and Female Rats: A Multiscale Analysis.

Sensorimotor circuits of the lumbosacral spinal cord are required for lower urinary tract (LUT) regulation as well as being engaged in pelvic pain states. To date, no molecular markers have been identified to enable specific visualization of LUT afferents, which are embedded within spinal cord segments that also subserve somatic functions. Moreover, previous studies have not fully investigated the patterning within or across spinal segments, compared afferent innervation of the bladder and urethra, or explored possible structural sex differences in these pathways. We have addressed these quest

Galanin-like immunoreactivity in autonomic regions of the rat lumbosacral spinal cord is sexually dimorphic and varies with the estrous cycle.

These investigations show that there is a heterogeneous distribution of galanin-like immunoreactivity (GAL-LI) within laminae VII and X of the rat thoraco-sacral spinal cord. In either sex, GAL-LI fibers sparsely outline the position of male and female preganglionic sympathetic neurons in thoracic spinal segments; whereas in lumbosacral segments, far greater numbers of GAL-LI fibers surround autonomic preganglionic neurons. An unusual feature of the GAL-LI fibers in lumbosacral autonomic regions is their sexually dimorphic distribution with males containing greater numbers of GAL-LI fibers tha

Tuberculous spondylitis of the lumbosacral region: long-term follow-up of patients treated by chemotherapy, transpedicular drainage, posterior instrumentation, and fusion.

OBJECTIVE: Tuberculosis spondylitis of the lumbosacral region has rarely been documented in the literature. We present an 87-month follow-up study of 7 of 62 patients with tuberculous spondylitis of the lumbosacral region treated by chemotherapy, transpedicular drainage, posterior instrumentation, and fusion. The purpose was to prove the hypothesis that chemotherapy with transpedicular drainage and single-stage posterior instrumentation-fusion is enough for the prevention of lumbar kyphosis and sagittal offset in selected cases. METHODS: There were four men and three women, with average age o

The Influence of the Inertial Motor Unit Location (Lumbosacral vs. Thoracic Regions) on the External Load Registered During Badminton Matches.

The use of inertial motor units (IMUs) to monitor external training loads during training and competition has grown, particularly in racket sports like badminton. Previous studies highlighted the influence of sensor location on external load measurements, with the lumbosacral region identified as optimal. However, IMUs are often placed dorsally between the scapulae. This study examined the impact of IMU placement (lumbosacral vs. thoracic) on external load recordings during two simulated badminton matches. Sixteen junior international-level players (10 males, 6 females) participated in matches

A primary undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma of the lumbosacral region harboring a LMNA-NTRK1 gene fusion with durable clinical response to crizotinib: a case report.

BACKGROUND: High-grade spindle cell sarcomas are a subtype of rare, undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcomas (UPSs) for which diagnosis is difficult and no specific treatment strategies have been established. The limited published data on UPSs suggest an aggressive clinical course, high rates of local recurrence and distant metastasis, and poor prognosis. CASE PRESENTATION: Here we present the unusual case of a 45-year-old male patient with a lumbosacral UPS extending into the sacrum. An initial diagnosis of a low-grade malignant spindle cell tumor was based on a tumor core biopsy. After complet

The effect of obesity, diabetes, and epidural steroid injection on regional volumetric bone mineral density measured by quantitative computed tomography in the lumbosacral spine.

PURPOSE: High body mass index (BMI) is positively correlated with bone mineral density (BMD) in healthy adults; however, the effect of BMI on regional segmental BMDs in the axial skeleton is unclear. In addition, obese patients often have glucose intolerance and patients with lumbar spine pathology commonly have a history of epidural steroid injections (ESIs). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of these patient factors on regional differences in BMD measured by quantitative computed tomography (QCT) in a lumbar fusion patient cohort. METHODS: The data were obtained from a dat
