Orbito-cerebral lymphoma in children is a rare cancer affecting the orbital and cerebral regions, often associated with extranodal lymphomas. It typically presents with ocular, neurological, and systemic symptoms, which can mimic other conditions, delaying diagnosis. MRI is the primary imaging tool for diagnosis. Treatment involves chemotherapy, sometimes with radiotherapy, and newer targeted therapies have improved survival. The prognosis is favorable for localized disease, but advanced cases or brain involvement have a higher risk of recurrence. Regular follow-up is essential to monitor for

Extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKL) is a subtype of mature T- and natural killer cell lymphomas characterized by its association with Epstein-Barr virus and extranodal involvement. Although there is geographic variance in the frequency of ENKL, its clinical features are similar between Western countries and endemic areas, such as East Asia. Anthracycline-containing chemotherapy is not recommended to treat ENKL. No standard treatment has been established based on the results of randomized controlled trials. In patients with localized disease, radiotherapy is a core comp

INTRODUCTION: Extranodal NK/T-Cell lymphoma, nasal type (NKTLN) is a disease that mainly affects the nasal cavity and the paranasal sinuses. Early nasal symptoms are nonspecific, simulating sinus infection. With disease progression, necrosis of the nasal mucosa increases, hindering histological diagnosis. Thus, multiple biopsies may be necessary until definitive diagnosis. Most studies on NKTLN address the hematological and immunological aspects of the disease.
OBJECTIVES: To present data from a Brazilian quaternary hospital, with emphasis on the clinical aspects of the disease, and to correl

Primary extranodal natural killer/T- cell lymphoma, nasal type (NK/TCL) in the lung is extremely rare and associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. An 80-year-old male presented with hemoptysis, which had lasted three days. Physical examination revealed inspiratory crackles at the left lung base and massive splenomegaly. Chest radiograph shows a mass-like lesion in the left lower lung but no active lesion six months earlier. Computed tomography demonstrated a soft tissue mass (size: 6.6 × 5.1 cm) with increased ground-glass opacities in the left lower lobe, several pulmonary nodules,

A 26 years old female presented with fever, nasal stuffiness with blood stained purulent discharge, nasal twang in voice along with non-healing palatal ulcers since three months. Examination revealed a paramidline perforation in the hard palate causing oronasal fistula formation. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry suggested a diagnosis of extranodal Natural Killer (NK)/T cell lymphoma. Multi-agent chemotherapy was instituted. We report this extremely rare case of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) of the extranodal NK/T cell variety presenting as palatal perforation.

INTRODUCTION: Extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL) is a rare type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. This report presents a patient with the right lower eyelid ENKTL misdiagnosed as meibomitis repeatedly.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 48-year-old woman developed recurrent redness and swelling in right eyelid for 2 years. Three eyelid mass removal operations were performed in local hospitals, and the pathological examination suggested meibomitis. Physical examination showed an induration in the lateral lower eyelid of the right eye, local defect of the eyelid margin, mild entropion, redness and sw

Nasal-type extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTCL) is a rare disease with a poor prognosis. It has features similar to other granulomatous and infectious diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses, which can make diagnosis challenging and delayed. We present a case of 38-year-old man who was admitted to the hospital on three occasions over a 3-month period for right periorbital erythema, nasal congestion and discharge. Following two separate surgical debridement and biopsies, ENKTCL was diagnosed and the patient was commenced on chemoradiotherapy. The case highlights the atypical na

Extranodal natural killer/T cell lymphoma-nasal type (EN-NK/T-NT) is extremely rare in Western countries; however, it is the most common subtype of peripheral T cell lymphoma in China. Despite this, there are a limited number of clinicopathological research studies on Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-negative EN-NK/T-NTs. EBV-negative EN-NK/T-NT is a rare disease type, which has not been fully investigated. If other diagnostic criteria are met, such as the lesions being located predominantly in the upper aerodigestive tract, the presence of angiocentricity or angioinvasion, necrosis and expression of

OBJECTIVE: Extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTL) is an aggressive extranodal lymphoma of NK-cell or T-cell lineage. Its clinical features overlap with those of several sinonasal mass lesions. While the histopathological features are well described, diagnosis is often difficult, owing to presence of extensive coagulative necrosis, so that repeated biopsies may sometimes be necessary for correct diagnosis. Literature on cytological findings of ENKTL is limited.
METHODS: Cytomorphological features of cases of histologically confirmed ENKTL having corresponding cytology sa

Granulysin is a cytolytic protein expressed in cytotoxic T and natural killer (NK) cells. Abnormal serum levels of granulysin in lymphomas with NK and cytotoxic phenotype have been shown to correlate with tumour progression. In this study, we investigated the expression pattern of granulysin in routine sections of normal and reactive lymphoid tissues as well as in a large series of lymphomas. In normal tissues, granulysin labelled a small population of cells that double immunostaining revealed to belong to the pool of cytotoxic T/NK cells. Among lymphoid neoplasms, the highest expression of gr

Inhibition of the Janus kinase (JAK)-STAT pathway has been implicated as a treatment option for extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (NTCL). However, JAK-STAT pathway alterations in NTCL are variable, and the efficacy of JAK-STAT pathway inhibition has been poorly evaluated. JAK3 mutation and STAT3 genetic alterations were investigated by direct sequencing and immunohistochemistry in 84 patients with newly diagnosed NTCL. Five of 71 patients with NTCL (7.0%) had JAK3 mutations in the pseudokinase domain: two JAK3A573V, two JAK3H583Y, and one JAK3G589D mutation. Proliferation o

Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKL), accounts for less than 3% of malignant lymphomas in Japan. Based on the results of prospective clinical trials, ENKL treatment has dramatically improved during the last decade in Japan. The Lymphoma Study Group of the Japan Clinical Oncology Group (JCOG) conducted a phase I/II study (JCOG0211) of concurrent chemoradiotherapy for newly-diagnosed, localized ENKL. The trial showed an excellent 5-year overall survival rate (70%) and acceptable toxicity of RT-2/3DeVIC. The NK-cell Tumor Study Group in Japan, together with Asian collaborators, conduc

Extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type, is a rare type of non-Hodgkin cell lymphoma endemic to East Asia and parts of Central and South America. In most cases, it is driven by Epstein-Barr virus infections, with a broad range of morphologic appearances, frequent necrosis, and angioinvasion. It is designated as NK/T reflecting uncertainty in its cellular origins. These tumors usually arise in the nasal region, typically presenting with symptoms of nasal obstruction, epistaxis, and/or a destructive mass involving the nose, sinuses, or palate. The treatment of patients with extrano

BACKGROUND: Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL) is a rare form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and carries a poor prognosis. Depending on the primary sites of anatomical involvement, it is subcategorized into nasal or extra-nasal ENKTL. Cutaneous involvement is the second localization reported for these lymphomas.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: A woman was admitted for erythematous infiltrative patches on the breasts having an ulcerative course. Cutaneous histopathology showed a dense, diffuse infiltrate of atypical lymphocytes. Immunohistochemistry revealed expression of specific markers for NK-cells and
