For patients undergoing radical head and neck surgery, the deformity or physical defect adds to the agony. Rehabilitation of patients with such deformities is a challenge for the maxillofacial prosthodontist to enhance the esthetics and give psychological strength to the patient. BACKGROUND: Oral cancer has a profound impact on the quality of life for patients and their families. Functionally, the mouth is an important organ for speech, swallowing, chewing, taste and salivation. These functions become compromised due to surgical ablation of the tumour. Case report of a 20 year old female patient who presented with Binder's maxillonasal dysplasia. She presented with completely missing premaxilla, nasal bone and septum, there was however no associated cardiac abnormalities, mental retardation or other skeletal deformities. Her principal complaint was the associated missing incisors. The incisors and the premaxilla were satisfactorily replaced with a removable maxillofacial prosthesis.

A patient presented complex fractures of the face and skull with leg trauma after a traffic accident. Maxillofacial repair used sophisticated procedures: bone grafts, muscle flaps and multiple osteotomies. After reconstructing the mid face and the mandibular repair, bone implants were used to stabilize the maxillary prosthesis. The psychological and functions problems raised in this case are discussed considering the occupational and social outcome.
