The authors report on the behaviour of systolic time intervals, studied with a noninvasive poligraphic technique, under normal conditions, after adrenergic beta stimuls (orciprenaline) and successive beta blocker (pindolole) in 38 patients with obstructive cardiomyopathy. Three cases of verapamil intoxication are described. The first two patients took 6.4 g verapamil each and the third one took 0.8 g of verapamil and alcohol. All three developed a third-degree atrioventricular dissociation, the first patient developed a slow idioventricular rhythm without atrial activity, the second a temporary asystole. Heat flux (HF) from the head, trunk and limbs of 6 neonates with various abnormalities was measured with HF transducers to find out whether the regional HF pattern reflected the metabolic and/or circulatory status of a neonate, his brain or limbs sufficiently to be of clinical use.
