Malignant mixed müllerian tumors are very rare neoplasms of the fallopian tube, and treatment is not well defined. A case of malignant mixed müllerian tumor of the tube concomitant with a primary serous carcinoma of the ovary is reported. It was unclear if there were two distinct neoplasms in the same patient, or if it was a single tumor with a sarcomatous fallopian conversion of the serous component, as described for some recurrent ovarian carcinomas. Chemotherapy for ovarian carcinoma with intraperitoneal metastasis was performed, with about a three-year interval-free period of disease, as c

Six consultation cases of mullerian adenosarcoma of the uterus were encountered in women who were receiving adjuvant tamoxifen therapy for carcinoma of the breast. To our knowledge, only one previous similar case has been reported. The women, who were 48-76 years of age, had received tamoxifen for periods of 6 months to 4 years (mean 2.7 years) in five of the cases; the duration of tamoxifen therapy in the sixth case is unknown. All of the tumors were polypoid endometrial masses that superficially invaded the myometrium in two cases. The microscopic appearance of the tumors was similar to that

Mullerian mixed tumors, as a group, are uncommon. Only 27 cases of this tumor of the fallopian tube have been reported to date. We report the 28th case of mixed mesodermal tumor, originating in the fallopian tube. A 79-year-old woman had mistaken a bloody vaginal discharge for hematuria. Various examinations showed no evidence of malignancy. However, computerized tomography revealed an intrapelvic tumor. Laparotomy was performed, with a suspicion of tubal malignancy. The final pathologic diagnosis was mixed mesodermal tumor, originating in the fallopian tube. Postoperatively, the patient was p

Cancers of female genital tract (FGTC) account in Europe for 14 % of all female malignancies, and many of them are rare. FGTC epidemiological indicators are usually reported by anatomical site, but they are a heterogeneous group of diseases in terms of morphological characteristics and clinical management. We show incidence and survival population-based estimates and time trends in the European population for FGTC, defined combining topography and morphology codes. We analyzed data of females aged 15 years or more diagnosed with 25 FGTC of which 23 rare. Data were provided by 100 European popu

A patient with Stage III fallopian tube carcinosarcoma treated with cisplatin, doxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide, surviving 31 months disease-free after diagnosis, is presented. Review of the literature revealed this is the 28th case report of malignant mixed Mullerian tumor of the fallopian tube, and fifth instance in which chemotherapy was used as a primary therapy. Modern chemotherapy appears to have improved survival.

Uterine adenosarcoma is a rare variant of mixed Mullerian tumors comprised of neoplastic glands with the benign appearance and sarcomatous stroma. The epithelium most often consists of endometrium- like cells, while the sarcomatous component usually shows low-grade homologous uterine sarcoma. These tumors present as a pelvic mass or an enlarged uterus with abnormal vaginal bleeding. Here, we present a case of 61 years old postmenopausal female patient with chief complaints of excessive vaginal bleeding and urine retention.

BACKGROUND: Extra-uterine mullerian adenosarcomas have varying biological behaviours depending on the presence of endometriosis or sarcomatous overgrowth. These behaviours manifest according to the tumours' histological characteristics and sites of origin. The best treatment and oncologic outcome have not been clarified because only a few cases of extra-uterine and extra-ovarian adenosarcoma have been described in the literature. Here, we report a case of primary peritoneal adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth and review all reported cases of adenosarcomas arising outside of the uterus and

BACKGROUND: Collision tumours are extremely rare. They are defined by the presence of two tumours of different histological origin in the same organ.
CLINICAL CASE: A 71 year old female with history of a carcinoid tumour removed 20 years ago without any recurrence. The patient was admitted with intestinal occlusion symptoms secondary to a right flank abdominal tumour. An exploratory laparotomy was performed, removing the tumor and applying optimal debulking. The histopathological study reported bilateral ovary adenocarcinoma, as well as metastatic collision tumour of two histological types: w

Müllerian adenosarcomas of the uterus usually present as pedunculated endometrial masses in postmenopausal women with vaginal bleeding. Extraendometrial variants (originating in the ovary, adnexa, or myometrium) are much less common, and they tend to present at a more advanced stage due to their location. The sarcomatous portion of müllerian adenosarcoma can vary from low grade to very high grade and the clinical behavior of the tumors can be indolent or aggressive. We present two cases, one of which originated in the adnexa and the other in an apparent focus of uterine adenomyosis. These case

Primary tumors of the seminal vesicle are rare; most reported cases are carcinomas, with occasional reports of primary seminal vesicle sarcoma and an uncommon group of mixed epithelial-stromal tumors. The latter have been variably reported in the literature as cystadenoma, phyllodes tumor, and mullerian adenosarcoma-like tumor. We describe a 37-year-old man who presented with symptoms of bladder outlet obstruction and was found to have a pelvic mass. Resection of the mass yielded a biphasic tumor characterized by cystically dilated glandular spaces admixed with spindle-shaped stromal cells. Th

A 52-year-old postmenopausal woman presented with abdominal distension for 2 months. She had no vaginal bleeding and no relevant medical history. A physical examination showed a large palpable pelvic mass. A CT scan showed an ill-defined, heterogeneously enhancing, soft tissue attenuation lesion in the lower abdomen and pelvis involving the right adnexal region with massive ascites, and the left ovary did not reveal any evidence of disease. The omentum was thickened and heterogeneous. The patient underwent a total hysterectomy with infracolic omentectomy. The diagnosis was bilateral ovarian ma

Carcinosarcoma of the uterus is a rare tumor representing 2-4% of uterine malignancies. Its prognosis is poor with a 5 years survival rate of 10-30%. We report a first documented case of carcinosarcoma occurring in a 62 years old woman who presented with postmenopausal vaginal bleeding for one year. The preoperative biopsy of endometrium revealed a leiomyosarcoma. Total body Computerized Tomography (CT) Scan revealed a mass limited to the uterus without other abnormalities. We carried out a total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. Post operative histology of the speci

Six cases of extraovarian cystic tumors of mullerian type are reported. Patient age ranged from 27-71 years. Tumor diameters were 5-11 cm and were located in the mesentery (4/6) and retroperitoneum (2/6). Four tumors were of mucinous type (1/4 of borderline malignancy) and two of serous type. These tumors clinically and histopathologically mimic other primary tumors of the peritoneum. The problems of differential diagnosis are discussed.

This report presents a rare, spontaneous, heterologous, malignant mixed Müllerian tumor observed in a 98-week-old untreated Wistar rat. At necropsy, the right uterine horn was dilated and contained a mass of approximately 10 × 15 mm. Histopathologically the mass consisted of 2 parts with different morphologic characteristics, a polypoid mass protruding into the uterine lumen and a more solid part that replaced the adjacent uterine wall. The solid part exhibited characteristics of a highly infiltrative adenocarcinoma, whereas the composition of the polypoid mass was heterogeneous, consisting of

A müllerian carcinosarcoma or malignant mesodermal mixed tumor (MMMT) originated from the retroperitoneum of a 51-year-old woman; only two previous similar cases have been reported. The 1,040 gm tumor was found in the left retroperitoneal space; the center of the tumor was extensively liquified. The uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries were unremarkable. The histopathological features of the tumor were typical of MMMT, homologous type. The adenocarcinomatous component of the tumor was immunohistochemically positive for cytokeratin 7 and negative for cytokeratin 20. MMMTs arising in extragenita

Fourteen patients with Mixed Gonadal Dysgenesis who presented as infants or children are discussed. Gonadal asymmetry, and/or sex chromosomal mosaicism, as well as retained Mullerian Ducts characterize the anomaly. The dysgenetic testis may occur as the result of a cascade of development mishaps stemming from abnormalities of H-Y antigen expression or function that lead to abnormal differentiation of the indifferent urogenital ridge and, in turn, to aberrant production of Mullerian inhibiting Substance and testosterone. The latter two cause retention of Mullerian ducts and incomplete masculini

Mesonephric-like adenocarcinomas (MLA) are rare neoplasms arising in the uterine corpus and ovary which have been added to the recent 2020 World Health Organization Classification of Female Genital Tumors. They have similar morphology and immunophenotype and exhibit molecular aberrations similar to cervical mesonephric adenocarcinomas. It is debated as to whether they are of mesonephric or Mullerian origin. We describe the clinical, pathologic, immunohistochemical, and molecular features of 5 cases of extrauterine mesonephric-like proliferations (4 ovary, 1 extraovarian), all with novel and hi

A rare case of primary jejunal malignant mixed tumor arising in a 49-64-old Japanese male with von Recklinghausen's disease is reported. The patient, who had a past history of partial gastrectomy due to duodenal ulcer, was admitted with a complaint of epigastric pain. Upper gastrointestinal examinations showed a huge polypoid tumor located in the efferent loop of the gastrojejunostomy site. Because the tumor was strongly suggestive of leiomyosarcoma on histological examination of biopsy specimens, laparotomy was performed. The resected tumor measuring 10 X 7 X 7 cm was composed of adenocarcino

Mullerian adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth (MASO) of the uterine cervix is an extremely rare variant of adenosarcoma of the genital tract associated with aggressive clinical course. We searched the PubMed and Medline databases for MASO of the cervix and we identified and reviewed eleven cases published between years 2004 and 2017. The most common clinical picture includes abnormal vaginal bleeding, postcoital bleeding, pelvic pain and foul-smelling vaginal discharge. Therapeutic options for MASO are still undefined. Radical hysterectomy with sufficient tumour-free margins combined with

Malignant mixed müllerian tumour of the fallopian tube is an extremely rare lesion and to date only approximately 50 cases have been reported. The tumour is seldom distinguished preoperatively from other more common lesions or ovarian cancer. We report a case of a 60-year-old woman who presented to our hospital with pelvic pain. There was no clinical evidence of ascites or adenopathy. Ultrasound and abdominal and pelvic computed tomography showed a left adnexal mass. Total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy were carried out. Grossly the left side of the fallopian tube w
