Mobility parameters in health applications--a literature review.

Independent mobility is linked to self-determined life and quality of life. [1] Since human mobility follows reproducible pattern [2], it may be useful to assess mobility in health applications. This article represents a literature review which considers the question which parameters represent mobility, how they are assessed (are tracking technologies used?) and their relation to health. There are several mobility parameters which were grouped into quantitative, qualitative and combined parameters. Especially combined parameters seem to be useful in health applications, which should motivate f

Towards robot-assisted magnetic particle imaging for mobile point-of-care (neuro)vascular applications.

Rapid diagnosis, timely treatment, and continuous monitoring are essential for improving outcomes in neurovascular diseases (time=brain). Such point-of-care applications, however, require imaging to be conducted in dynamic and often confined spaces. While magnetic particle imaging (MPI) shows preclinical promise for fast (neuro)vascular imaging, it relies on complex and restricted imaging gantries. Here, we present a unique gantry-free robot-assisted MPI strategy (Robotic MPI) that is 'portable'. Using permanent magnets, Hall sensors and correction coils, we developed a single-sided detector w

Addressing the Challenges of Penicillin Allergy Delabeling With Electronic Health Records and Mobile Applications.

Allergy labels are common, often incorrect, and potentially harmful. There are many opportunities for clinical decision support (CDS) tools integrated in the electronic health record (EHR) and mobile apps to address the challenges with drug allergy management, including penicillin allergy delabeling (PADL). Effective delabeling solutions must consider multidisciplinary clinical workflow and multistep processes, including documentation, assessment, plan (eg, allergy testing and referral), record update, drug allergy alert management, and allergy reconciliation over time. Developing a systematic

An intention to use mobile applications for medical supplies and equipment ordering in clinics.

This research developed a mobile medical supplies and equipment ordering app (MMSEOA) model and attempted to validate it empirically. When customers (clinic doctors) make purchases on the app, two types of reasons can be identified: "reasons for" include enduring involvement (emotions), product description, and awareness (familiarity) while the "reasons against", were demonstrated as perceived risk and resistance to change (fear). This study aimed to strengthen and illuminate the most significant dimensions that enhance a doctor's understanding of MMSEOA and the intention to use it. Furthermor
