Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare clinical entity that is defined as infiltration of the nervous system by a known or unknown haematological malignancy and is difficult to diagnose. Fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) PET imaging is increasingly being used in haematological malignancies. This article focus on the role of 18F-FDG PET in the diagnosis and management of NL by presenting a review of cases described in the literature. Reports on NL that used PET with or without computed tomography (CT) as a diagnostic modality were extracted from Medline and evaluated. A total of 58 patients d

RATIONALE: Primary adrenal lymphoma (PAL) is a very rare and highly aggressive disease. Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare manifestation of lymphoma characterized by the infiltration of lymphoma cells into peripheral nerves, resulting in neurological symptoms. To date, there have been very few reported cases of PAL with NL. By reviewing the entire treatment process of the patient, we aim to enhance recognition of PAL complicated with NL and guide clinicians to pay attention to the diagnosis of such diseases. Early recognition and diagnosis of NL are crucial for appropriate management and treatm

The infiltration and invasion of nerve trunks, nerve roots, and cranial nerves by lymphomatous malignant cells is defined as "neurolymphomatosis". It is mainly caused by lymphoma cells directly infiltrating the peripheral nerves, with a low incidence. Neurolymphomatosis is a rare condition of neoplastic endoneurial invasion, which is primary or secondary to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and leukemia. We describe a case of primary peripheral neurolymphomatosis of multifocal involvement in a 77-year-old male patient. He presented with left lower limb pain and was diagnosed with CD20+ diffuse large B ce

BACKGROUND: Isolated primary neurolymphomatosis (NL) of cranial multineuritis is a very rare condition that refers to the lymphomatous invasion of cranial nerves only. There are sparse cases of isolated cranial nerves NL reported worldwide.
CASE PRESENTATION: We present magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) findings of a 63-year-old female patient suffering from isolated neurolymphomatosis of cranial multineuritis with a wide constellation of syndromes including binocular diplopia, left facial paralysis and pain, syncope episodes, and progressive dysphagia. A contrast

OBJECTIVES: We report a case of primary neurolymphomatosis (NL) with unusual presentation and excellent treatment response.
METHODS: Chart review.
RESULTS: A 64-year-old woman presented with 2 months of progressive pain, weakness, and numbness in her right leg. Nerve conduction study/electromyogram suggested a right lumbosacral radiculoplexus neuropathy with associated acute right peroneal neuropathy at the fibular head. L/S spine and right leg magnetic resonance imaging showed thickening and contrast enhancement of the right S1 nerve root and the right distal sciatic, tibial, and common per

A 73-year-old woman was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the uterus (Stage IVB). After 3 courses of CHOP therapy, right abducens nerve paralysis appeared and was diagnosed as central nervous system infiltration with lymphoma cells. Although partial remission was obtained by chemotherapy with methotrexate, numbness and muscle weakness of all four limbs appeared asymmetrically and progressed subacutely. Nerve conduction velocity examination revealed mononeuritis multiplex, but we could not reach a final diagnosis. Steroid pulse therapy, chemotherapy including high-dose methotrexat

BACKGROUND: Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare disease defined as an invasion of lymphoma into peripheral nerves, nerve roots, or nerve plexuses, including the cranial nerves. No clear treatment protocols have yet been defined for this pathology.
OBSERVATIONS: A woman in her 40s had a primary central nervous system lymphoma diagnosed from an intracranial tumor biopsy and underwent chemotherapy and radiation therapy. After she complained of pain in the trunk and extremities, magnetic resonance imaging and [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) performed 25 months after

A 56-year-old woman with a history of diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (DLBCL-NHL) in remission for two years presented with weight loss and multifocal sensory/motor symptoms. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the neuraxis and whole-body FDG PET/CT led to a diagnosis of secondary neurolymphomatosis (NL). MRI demonstrated extensive thickening and enhancement of multiple cranial nerves and peripheral nerve plexuses with corresponding elevated metabolism on FDG PET/CT. Treatment with chemotherapy resulted in complete response on FDG PET/CT and subsequently she underwent autologous stem

Introduction: Horner's syndrome is an established clinical finding unique to neoplastic brachial plexopathy. Background: We present the case of a patient who developed Horner's syndrome as the first manifestation of neurolymphomatosis (NL) of the brachial plexus that did not have the usually associated bulky adenopathy/Pancoast syndrome phenotype. Discussion: We discuss the clinical utility of Horner's syndrome with regards to brachial plexopathy of indeterminate etiology, as well as the utility of other diagnostic modalities in NL. Concluding Remarks: NL, particularly of the brachial plexus,

Neurolymphomatosis represents a peripheral lymphomatous neural infiltration and is a relatively rare condition. Histopathologically, most patients are demonstrated to have non-Hodgkin lymphoma. A 27-year-old man with a history of HLA-B27-positive ankylosing spondylitis and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma was referred for the investigation of a severe neuropathic pain radiating down his right hip and posterior thigh for 1 month. This report describes the diagnosis and therapy response assessment in a relapsing aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma on an F-FDG PET scan.

A man in his mid-20s presented with a 5-month history of bilateral lower limb weakness and wasting along with bladder symptoms and erectile dysfunction. Additionally, he had binocular diplopia and progressive drooping of both eyelids. His clinical presentation was suggestive of bilateral third cranial nerve involvement with lumbosacral polyradiculopathy. Initial treatment with steroids for suspected idiopathic lumbosacral polyradiculopathy syndrome proved ineffective, as his symptoms progressively worsened without other systemic manifestations. We diagnosed a rare and treatable neurological co

BACKGROUND: Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare clinical entity characterized by infiltration of malignant lymphocytes into the peripheral nervous system. We analyzed the clinicoradiological features, treatments, and outcomes in NL patients.
METHODS: We identified six patients with NL seen at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center from 01/2010 to 10/2012. We extracted clinical presentations, imagings, CSF cytology, and electrodiagnostic studies from medical records. One patient had a nerve biopsy. We defined therapy response as clinical improvement of neurological deficits.

Neurolymphomatosis associated with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is extremely rare. Thus, we report a case of imaging findings of neurolymphomatosis in a 60-year-old man with MCL who developed acute neurological symptoms after complete remission. On 18F-FDG PET/CT and brain PET/MR, it presents as multiple spinal root or nerve enlargement with intense FDG uptake. The final diagnosis confirmed recurrent neurolymphomatosis of MCL.

A 73-year-old female developed right facial paralysis of House-Brackmann (H-B) grade III and was diagnosed with Bell's palsy. After three months of steroid therapy, she developed progressive hearing loss, and an MRI revealed a tumor in the right internal auditory canal. Within a few months, the right facial nerve palsy recurred, and the patient was treated with Gamma Knife radiosurgery. The tumor in the irradiated region disappeared, but new dysphagia was observed, and a right parotid gland tumor was detected for the first time. Tumors of the right parotid gland and the digastric muscle of the

Neurolymphomatosis is a rare neurological syndrome in lymphomas. It is reported as infiltration of peripheral nerves by lymphoma. It is important to distinguish neurolymphomatosis from other types of neuropathies, particularly infectious and inflammatory conditions. However, it is difficult to isolate a cancer-related inflammatory vasculitis and mononeuritis multiplex without definitive histopathologic examination. In this report, we describe a case of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma involving the peroneal nerve and presenting as neurolymphomatosis.

A 56-year-old man suffered from diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) originated from the stomach. He received R-CHOP therapy, and had a complete remission. However, at age 57, he experienced left shoulder pain and weakness of left arm, and his muscle weakness and sensory disturbance subacutely progressed to other limbs. Cervical and lumbosacral MRI showed enhanced extended lesions of cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral nerve roots and cauda equina. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis revealed a sustained low glucose level. Nerve conduction study showed abnormalities of measurement parameters of F

Peripheral neurolymphomatosis is a rare manifestation of advanced lymphoproliferative disorders. It is often associated with B cell lymphomas and rarely with cutaneous T cell lymphomas, such as mycosis fungoides and Sézary syndrome. In this case report, we present a 78-year-old male with a long-standing history of mycosis fungoides. The patient initially presented with chronic peripheral neuropathy in an ulnar nerve distribution. After an unsuccessful ulnar nerve transposition, the ulnar nerve was re-explored and a mass consistent with diffuse lymphomatous infiltration was diagnosed. Magnetic
