The randomized clinical trial results of the anxiety treatment in patients with somatoform dysfunction and neurotic disorders.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

The existing treatments for somatoform dysfunction (SfD), reaction to severe stress (RSS), and adjustment disorders (AjD) are insufficiently effective and safe. Anxiolytic drug Tenoten proved effective in clinical trials (CT). The aim of this multicenter double-blind placebo-controlled randomized CT was to investigate the safety and efficacy of Tenoten in the treatment of anxiety in adults with SfD, RSS, AjD and other neurotic disorders (oNDs). 390 adult patients with SfD, RSS and AjD or oNDs with the Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale-anxiety (HADS-A) score ≥ 11 were randomized into 4 grou

Hope for Neurotic Disorders: A Summary of New Zealand Research on the Development of Biomarkers and Novel Treatments.

The neurotic disorders (e.g., depression, dysthymia, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, agoraphobia, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder) are costly and difficult to treat. Diagnosis is based on symptoms not biological causes. Here, we summarize New Zealand-based work developing EEG biomarkers and novel treatments. Working at the University of Otago, we have developed an anxiety disorder biomarker and shown its potential to detect anxiety resistant to conventional treatments. Others have started similar work on depression biomarkers. We

[The role and place of central mediators and peptide bioregulators in the pathogenesis of emotional disorders in neurotic patients].

The accumulated evidence on central mediators indicates that they may play an important part in the maintenance of emotional activity. Their significance is also great in the pathogenesis of affective disorders, including endogenous psychoses and borderline states. But further work in this area is needed relative to interrelation of the above mediators to a new class of bioregulators, viz peptide regulators. The results obtained suggest the existence of differentiated brain mechanisms of formation of emotional disturbances in different forms of neurosis that provide criteria for the diagnosis

Prevalence of thyroid disorders in psychogeriatric inpatients. A possible relationship of hypothyroidism with neurotic depression but not with dementia.

Thyroid disorders are known to manifest occasionally as isolated psychiatric disorders. In order to determine whether thyroid dysfunctions could play a significant role in the pathogenesis of psychiatric disorders in the elderly, the prevalence of thyroid disorders was compared in a group of psychogeriatric patients and in a group of nonpsychiatric elderly patients. Thyroid function screening was performed in 157 patients consecutively admitted to a psychogeriatric unit, and the prevalence of hypothyroidism was determined in the different groups of psychiatric disorders (senile and multi-infar

Longitudinal study of the influence of life events and personality status on diagnostic change in three neurotic disorders.

It has been known for many years that diagnosis within the neurotic spectrum of disorders is temporally unstable and also that life events can be major precipitants of change in symptoms. Reasons for this instability could include inherent inadequacy of current diagnostic practice, the influence of life events as an agent of diagnostic shift, and an innate course of disorder with features dependent on the stage at which disorder presents (e.g., development of panic to agoraphobia). These possibilities were examined in a prospective study that was initially a randomised controlled trial. Two hu

The antidepressant effectiveness of transcranial magnetic stimulation is not impacted by comorbid neurotic, stress-related or somatoform disorders.

INTRODUCTION: Depression is frequently accompanied by neurotic, stress-related and somatoform disorders (F4 diagnoses, ICD-10), which are linked to greater severity and poorer treatment outcomes. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive neuromodulation technique used for treatment-resistant depression. We investigated whether comorbid F4 diagnoses affect the antidepressant efficacy of different TMS protocols under real-world conditions. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed data from 416 in- and outpatients with unipolar or bipolar depression at a German tertiary hospital betw

[A 20-year follow-up study of a sample of 50 pairs of twins with neurotic-psychosomatic disorders].

As part of a research project, examination was made of a sample of 50 pairs of twins (21 pairs of identical twins, 16 pairs of non-identical twins of the same sex, and 13 pairs of male-female twins [n = 100 test persons]) between 1963 and 1969 and again recently after a period of 20 years. The index twins were drawn from among the patients who made use of the services of an out-patient psychotherapeutic clinic, and they were determined to be either psychoneurotic, character neurotic, or psychosomatically ill. The question examined was again one of nature vs. nurture. Identical twins showed a s

Nocturnal hypoxia in patients with sleep disorders: exploring its role as a mediator between neurotic personality traits and psychological symptoms.

INTRODUCTION: Sleep disorders often coexist with personality and psychological issues, alongside nocturnal hypoxia. This study investigates the potential mediating role of nocturnal hypoxia between personality traits and psychological symptoms in individuals with sleep disorders. METHODS: A cohort comprising 171 participants reporting sleep disturbances was recruited from Dalian Seventh People's Hospital. Psychological symptoms were assessed using the Symptom Checklist-90-R (SCL-90-R), while personality traits were evaluated using the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ). Nocturnal hypoxia

Relationships between treatments received in the Nottingham Study of Neurotic Disorder over 30 years and personality status.

We compared the drug treatments and health service contacts of anxious and depressed patients separated by personality disturbance in 200 patients over 30 years. Contact details with health professionals at 5, 12 and 30 years were recorded and analysed by multilevel models at all time points. Over 30 years, patients with dependent and anankastic personality disturbance and cothymia (the general neurotic syndrome) were 2.27 times more likely to receive selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and new antidepressants (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.22-4.24), particularly paroxetine, and

Differential effects of childhood abuse and neglect: mediation by posttraumatic distress in neurotic disorder and negative symptoms in schizophrenia?

Dissociation, though understood as a response to trauma, lacks a proven etiology. The assumption of a dose-response relationship between trauma, dissociation and Schneiderian symptoms led to the proposal of a dissociative subtype of schizophrenia characterized by severe child maltreatment, dissociation and psychosis. Child maltreatment and dissociation are common features of neurotic disorders as well, and the link between trauma, dissociation, and hallucinations is not specific for schizophrenia. This study compares childhood abuse and neglect, posttraumatic distress and adult dissociation in

[Epidemiological studies on neurotic disturbances, anxiety and depression disorders in a population living near an overhead high voltage transmission line (400 kV)].

Epidemiological studies indicate an increased incidence of depression and neurotic disorders in persons long exposed to influence of electromagnetic fields. The examinations covered a selected population of several suburban neighborhoods of Cracow living not farther than 50 m from a 400 kV high-voltage transmission line. A group of 70 persons (35 men and 35 women) living near the transmission line for longer than 10 years was examined. A control group consisted of 37 persons not subjected to an influence of similar transmission line. Instruments used in the examination included: Symptom Checkl
