Luliconazole-niacinamide lipid nanocarrier laden gel for enhanced treatment of vaginal candidiasis: in vitro, ex vivo, in silico and preclinical insights.

A lipid-based nanocarrier system is a novel technique for the delivery of poorly soluble drugs through topical delivery. This study developed a dual-drug (luliconazole: LZ, and niacinamide: NM) loaded lipid nanocarrier (LN)-laden gel for the treatment of vaginal candidiasis. The LNs were prepared using cholesterol and soya-α-lecithin through a thin-film hydration technique. The average vesicle size, polydispersity index, and zeta potential of the optimized LZNMLNs were 126.40 ± 1.30 nm, 0.276, and -34.6 ± 0.8 mV, respectively, and the formulation showed the sustained release of both drugs over

Fast, easy and green method for the first quantification of niacinamide in serums and creams by digital image analysis using iron (III) chloride.

A green digital image photometry method for the quantification of niacinamide in commercial cosmetic serums and creams is described. The method is based on the formation of an orange complex between niacinamide and iron (III) chloride in microplates under LED backlighting. The analytical signal was defined as (255 - B), where B corresponds to the blue channel intensity in the RGB colour model. Calibration was performed using microplate-based standards, and the method was applied to commercial cosmetic samples. Relative errors compared to HPLC-DAD were lower than 10.0%, and an elliptical joint

An Investigator-Blinded, Randomized Trial of a Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen Containing Sclareolide and Niacinamide for the Prevention of Post-inflammatory Hyperpigmentation in Skin of Color.

INTRODUCTION: Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is common and distressing in skin of color. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation and visible light (VL) exacerbate PIH, yet most sunscreens do not target the oxidative and inflammatory pathways that drive it. This study evaluated a broad-spectrum sunscreen with sclareolide and niacinamide for mitigating PIH induced by combined UV/VL exposure and inflammatory stimuli. METHODS: In an investigator-masked, randomized, intra-individual study, 20 participants with Fitzpatrick skin types IV-V underwent controlled UV/VL exposure with or without tape strip

Pilot Study on the Effects of a Cosmetic Serum Containing Niacinamide, Postbiotics and Peptides on Facial Skin in Healthy Participants: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

The literature describes niacinamide, but also postbiotics and peptides, as ingredients that improve skin barrier function, but also affect melanin and sebum levels in individuals. However, the combined effects of these ingredients in a single cosmetic serum have not been sufficiently investigated. Therefore, the aim of this randomized controlled study, conducted at the University of Split School of Medicine (Croatia), was to evaluate the effects of cosmetic products containing these active ingredients. This study was registered with ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT06189105) and has been completed. Pri

Randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical safety evaluation of a facial brightening toner containing niacinamide and β-arbutin used with 4% hydroquinone.

BACKGROUND: Hydroquinone (HQ) remains the gold standard for treating facial hyperpigmentation, but irritation concerns may limit its use. β-arbutin and niacinamide are widely used cosmetic brightening ingredients; however, concerns that β-arbutin may release HQ have led to recommendations against combining β-arbutin-containing products with HQ. Clinical evidence evaluating the tolerability of this combination is limited. OBJECTIVES: Assess the safety of a Facial Brightening Toner containing 3% niacinamide and 2% β-arbutin when combined with 4% HQ. METHODS: An 18-week randomized, double-blind

Two decades of using the combination of tetracycline derivatives and niacinamide as steroid-sparing agents in the management of pemphigus: defining a niche for these low toxicity agents.

BACKGROUND: The twin goals of long-term disease control and minimizing toxicities related to immunosuppression necessitate efforts to find effective steroid-sparing agents in the management of patients with autoimmune bullous diseases. Pemphigus especially requires a long view, because the disease can persist throughout a patient's lifetime, yet few clinical trial reports exist to guide the practitioner. OBJECTIVES: We review the response of pemphigus patients to tetracycline, doxycycline, or minocycline plus niacinamide (TCN/NAM) as steroid-sparing therapy and to determine the effects of TCN
