The aim of this study was to explore the application effect of intelligent incubator in neonatal care. We selected the period from January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2020, where there were 100 full-term and premature babies born in a hospital and transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) within 1 hour after birth. Before the improved heat preservation, 100 full-term infants in the control group and 100 full-term infants in the intervention group of the intelligent warming box were formed into a full-term infant group for a comparative study. Statistics and comparison of the two grou

This is a summary of the original article "Overview of acute seizure management in US nursing homes." Nursing home residents are more likely than community-dwelling individuals to be diagnosed with epilepsy or seizures. These conditions often complicate care and are associated with an increased likelihood of illness and death. The objective of this survey was to investigate acute seizure management practices in nursing homes in the USA, identify gaps in knowledge, and guide future educational efforts, including acute seizure action plans. The survey was completed by 91 nursing home directors.

Nurses constitute nearly 50% of the worldwide health workforce, and the World Health Organisation has advocated for an enlargement of their roles to guarantee fair health care and address the increasing need for services. The growing specialization in nursing practice has led to a rise in educational options for nurses, including the growth of PhD programs. These programs play a crucial role in preparing nurse researchers and educators. This growth underlines the importance of evidence-based practice and high-quality academic writing in nursing. The article highlights the importance of nurses'

BACKGROUND: In the standard approach to designing clinical trials in nursing research, the primary endpoint and test statistic to be used for the primary analysis are specified before trial initiation. The false positive error rate for the null hypothesis and statistical power to detect the targeted size of treatment effect are also specified. The main purpose of this paper is to introduce the usage of monitoring procedures on emerging data during the course of the trial, such as the group sequential and adaptive designs, to the nursing science study setting.
METHOD: The article briefly descr

BACKGROUND: Internal validity of a randomized clinical trial of a nursing intervention is dependent on intervention fidelity. Although several methods have been developed, evaluating audio or audiovisual tapes for prescribed and proscribed interventionist behaviors is considered the gold standard test of treatment fidelity. This approach requires development of a psychometrically sound instrument to meaningfully categorize and quantify interventionist behaviors.
OBJECTIVE: To outline critical steps necessary to develop a treatment fidelity instrument.
METHODS: A comprehensive literature revi

This paper describes how an innocent venture outside the confines of academia to update my nursing skills completely changed the focus of my research. I was deeply involved in the theoretical development of my thesis, which I thought was a feminist exploration of the meaning of health for mid-life women. I was immersed in feminist theory and was exploring the work of the French Feminists. I had written comprehensive draft chapters about nursing, women's bodies and science. While I was absorbed in my theoretical exploration I decided to venture back into practice to improve my nursing skills. I

AIM: Clinical research nurses work at the fulcrum of clinical trials with clearly defined roles and responsibilities. In England, the National Institute for Health Research (the main funder of health research) has broadened its scope to encompass social care research. The expectation is that clinical research nurses will expand their skill set to support these new studies, many of which will employ qualitative and mixed methods. This discussion paper explores the challenges of facilitating this clinical academic workforce development through a case study of a homeless health and social care re

INTRODUCTION: Cancer nurse practitioners (CNPs) provide specialized care for patients with complex cancer needs. CNPs undertake advanced assessment, diagnosis, prescribing, and management of treatment-related toxicities and end-of-life care. Beyond clinical care, Nurse Practitioners (NPs) engage in leadership, education, and research. However, many student and novice CNPs report challenges developing confidence and capability across all domains. Structured mentorship may support this transition.
METHODS: A one-year mentorship program matched novice/student CNPs with experienced CNPs. As part

Nurses are regularly exposed to workplace traumatic events, including violence, aggression, witnessing patient deaths, and self-harming behavior and suicide attempts. These experiences can adversely affect nurse well-being and can interrelate with personal histories of trauma. Despite this, psychological trauma in nursing remains underexplored. Foli's mid-range theory of psychological trauma (2022) provides a contemporary framework for addressing this gap by identifying 7 types of psychological trauma in nursing practice while incorporating personal experiences beyond the clinical setting. Since its expansion in the 1980s, nursing research has aimed to develop knowledge to produce evidence-based results that can help nurses to guide and improve decision-making regarding patient care. Nursing research is based on a rigorous methodology that meets the criteria determined by the scientific method. However, nursing research predominantly adopts approaches such as gap-spotting and problematization that remain centred on existing knowledge about phenomena. Gap-spotting seeks to identify unanswered questions in the literature, whereas problematization challenges the assumptions underly

Research is essential for the implementation of evidence-based practice and can lead to improvements and innovations in care delivery. Although ultimately beneficial for patients and staff, the data collection involved in research often presents challenges, particularly in the emergency department (ED) setting. This article describes the challenges of undertaking a feasibility trial in a city centre ED. The target research population were adult patients who presented to the ED with an issue related to opioid misuse, for example opioid overdose, injection site wounds and/or abscess, or injury s

AIM: To discuss the legal, ethical and practical considerations in UK studies involving nurses with dyslexia and medication administration errors (MAEs).
BACKGROUND: Nurses with dyslexia are a vulnerable population as they are susceptible to misrepresentation in research, especially that which involves a sensitive topic such as MAEs.
DISCUSSION: Nurses with dyslexia may be particularly vulnerable to research that could exploit, implicate or attribute unsafe practice to them and their disability. Special consideration should be exercised when researching this population.
CONCLUSION: Despite

Adequate participant recruitment is critical for the successful execution of research studies involving human subjects. Participant recruitment can be particularly challenging when the intended study participants are health care providers as opposed to patients. Discussions of the challenges and successful strategies associated with provider recruitment are limited, particularly regarding providers other than physicians and settings outside of primary care. Using a case study format, we present our experiences recruiting inpatient nurses into a study which involved focus group methodology at a
