[Twin pregnancy after oocyte donation in a woman with Turner syndrome].

It is extremely rare for pregnancy to occur spontaneously in patients with Turner's syndrome, and if it happens this will have an increased risk of fetal wastage and congenital malformations in the new born, specially of the sexual chromosome. Oocyte donation is at present the technique of choice to release the reproductive wishes of these women. We present a case of a woman with Turner's syndrome, with a 45, X0 karyotype, to whom ovum donation and intrauterine embryo transfer were performed, obtaining a twin pregnancy without complications. A cesarean section was made at term, obtaining two h

Same Cycle Shift from IVF with Own Oocytes to Oocyte Donation in No or Poor Response Cycles.

Our In-Vitro Fertilisation Centre is situated in a large developing country, Madagascar, with very bad roads and low income patients. Therefore we try to find ways to reduce as much as possible the number of attempts to obtain a pregnancy. Poor or no response to ovarian stimulation in In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) cycles is a great challenge. Here we describe a method whereby we shift from IVF to Oocyte Donation (OD) during the same cycle for patients whose ovaries do not respond properly to ovulation stimulation. Patients were superovulated with a long protocol agonist treatment and ultrasonic

Fresh oocyte cycles yield improved embryo quality compared with frozen oocyte cycles in an egg-sharing donation programme.

The objective of this study was to investigate any effect of cryopreservation of donated eggs on laboratorial and clinical outcomes of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles. This retrospective cohort study included 320 oocyte recipients undergoing 307 vitrified and 119 fresh oocyte recipient ICSI cycles, participating in an egg-sharing donation programme, from 2015 to 2018, in a private university-affiliated in vitro fertilization (IVF) centre. A review of donor and recipient ICSI cycles was charted. A general mixed models fit by restricted maximum likelihood, followed by Bonferroni p

Comparison of obstetric and perinatal complications in intracytoplasmic sperm injection cycles with autologous oocytes and donated oocytes.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to compare the obstetric and perinatal complications in women who became pregnant with autologous oocytes and those who received donated oocytes (DO) in intracytoplasmic sperm injection cycles (ICSI). METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was carried out by collecting data from medical records between 2019 and 2022. Only patients who underwent ICSI in an induced cycle using their own or freshly DO, with male infertility factor and tubal factor, were included. RESULTS: A total of 120 patients were assessed, comprising 51 cases utilizing their own oocytes (

Oocyte donors' motivations for donation and expectations about post-donation contact with donor-conceived individuals: a systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Oocyte donation has been increasingly used in ARTs in recent years. Previous reviews have generally reported positive donor attitudes towards oocyte donation; however, they have not focused on expectations regarding outcomes and potential future contact with donor-conceived offspring. Addressing this gap is critical in light of ongoing ethical, cultural, and legal debates surrounding donor anonymity, financial compensation, and the rights of donor-conceived individuals. OBJECTIVE AND RATIONALE: The systematic review focused on oocyte donors' motivations and expectations on future

Euploid rates among oocyte donors: is there an optimal age for donation?

PURPOSE: To examine cycle blastocyst euploid rates among age subgroups of oocyte donors. METHODS: Retrospective cohort analysis of ova donation in vitro fertilization cycles (OD-IVF) for which trophectoderm biopsy for preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) by array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) or next generation gene sequencing (NGS) was employed between January 2015 and December 2018 in a single high-volume fertility center. RESULTS: Compared to oocyte donors age 26-30, oocyte donors age ≤ 25 had similar cycle blastocyst euploid rates (80 [66.7, 87.5]%, vs. 75 [6

Clinical validation of a closed vitrification system in an oocyte-donation programme.

Controversy exists about the risk of microbiological contamination from direct contact with unsterile liquid nitrogen during oocyte vitrification. The aim of this observational study was to evaluate the effectiveness of oocyte vitrification using a high-security closed vitrification system in a donation programme. Oocyte vitrification was performed using CBS High Security closed straws (Cryo Bio System) with DMSO/ethylene glycol/sucrose as the cryoprotectant (Irvine Scientific freeze kit). A total of 123 vitrified metaphase-II oocytes were warmed in 20 recipient cycles (6.2 warmed oocytes per

Impact of pelvic endometriosis on the chances of pregnancy in the context of oocyte donation.

BACKGROUND: Endometriosis is diagnosed in 25% to 40% of infertile patients. This disease can affect ovarian reserve and oocyte quality, as a result Assisted Reproductive Technology is often required. However, the influence of endometriosis on implantation rates remains debated. Here, we assessed its impact on the chances of pregnancy following oocyte donation. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A single-center retrospective study was conducted at the Picardie Center for the Study and Conservation of Oocytes and Sperm (CECOS de Picardie), Amiens CHU. Patients who received a fresh embryo transfer after from

Oocyte donation in Turner's syndrome: an analysis of the factors affecting the outcome.

A total of 29 women with Turner's syndrome (19 monosomy and 10 mosaic) had 68 cycles of oocyte donation that included 29 cycles of initial attempt and 39 cycles of subsequent attempts. Oral oestradiol valerate was used either in a variable dose (42 cycles) or in a constant dose (26 cycles) regimen for the endometrial preparation which was monitored by pelvic ultrasonography. The embryos/zygotes were transferred either fresh (50 cycles) or after cryopreservation (18 cycles) into the Fallopian tube (41 cycles) and uterine cavity (27 cycles) as appropriate. There were 28 clinical pregnancies incl

A report on 100 cycles of oocyte donation; factors affecting the outcome.

Eighty-two patients had 100 cycles of oocyte donation from 68 donors resulting in 27 clinical pregnancies. The source of donated oocytes was 42 fertile volunteers and 26 patients from the assisted conception programme. The pregnancy rate was significantly higher when intra-Fallopian transfer was performed (36%; 21/59), compared with intrauterine transfer (15%; 6/41). The pregnancy rate following fresh gamete/embryo transfer (39%; 15/39) was slightly higher than for frozen embryo transfer (20%; 12/61). The age of the recipient significantly affected the pregnancy rate. The pregnancy rate was 50

Vitrification does not affect birth weight: lessons from the oocyte donation model.

RESEARCH QUESTION: Is embryo cryopreservation a cause of high birth weight and large for gestational age (LGA) in singletons resulting from vitrified-warmed embryo transfer? DESIGN: Retrospective cohort study evaluating 670 oocyte recipients who underwent fresh (367 cycles) or vitrified-warmed embryo transfer (303 cycles) at Instituto Bernabeu between July 2017 and March 2019. All single blastocyst transfers carried out in an artificial cycle that resulted in a singleton live birth were included. RESULTS: Maternal age (42.21 ± 4.45; 42.79 ± 3.83; P = 0.519), body mass index (23.34 ± 3.69; 23

Perspectives, experiences, and choices of parents of children conceived following oocyte donation.

This paper reports on and discusses the findings of an online survey initiated by the Donor Sibling Registry of 108 parents of children conceived following oocyte donation. Respondents generally supported early disclosure of donor conception to the child, although some bias in favour of disclosure cannot be excluded, given the recruitment source. Even so, extensive uncertainty regarding the optimum time for disclosure was evident. Around half of the parents who had either expressly chosen (50.0%), or had been given no choice of, an anonymous donor (54.1%) subsequently wished they had used an o

[Oocyte donation in France and national balance sheet (GEDO). Different European approaches].

Oocyte donation (OD), a technique successfully used in Assisted reproductive techniques (ART), has been effective for 20 years as the palliative treatment of certain exocrine ovarian failures. Its indications have also been extended to cover some genetic diseases and documented occult ovarian insufficiency. In France, after an extensive judicial and ethical deliberation, OD was deemed legal and its practice was proscribed in the Bioethics Laws 94-653 and 94-654 of 29 July 1994. Its essential underlying principles are: voluntary, free, anonymous and confidential OD; according to a French decree

Quadruplet pregnancy in a 51-year-old menopausal woman following oocyte donation.

A quadruplet pregnancy occurred in a woman 51 years of age following oocyte donation and embryo transfer. Successful pregnancy occurred following two previously unsuccessful attempts. The patient underwent a selective reduction of her pregnancy to two fetuses at approximately 13 weeks gestational age. Her pregnancy continued uneventfully and she underwent the delivery of two viable infants at 38 weeks gestational age by Caesarean section. This case represents the first quadruplet pregnancy to be established in a woman of 50 years of age or older. It illustrates both the benefits and risks of o

Peri-Transfer Glucocorticoid Therapy in Oocyte-Donation IVF Bridging the Immunological Gap.

In vitro fertilisation via oocyte donation is a unique reproductive technique in which the embryo is fully separate from the receiver. This compels the immune system to exert more effort at the interface between the uterus and the remainder of the body. This setting has maintained interest in peri-transfer glucocorticoid treatment as a possible approach to modify endometrial immunity and enhance implantation. Nevertheless, the data for this procedure are disjointed and mostly derive from investigations on autologous in vitro fertilisation. This narrative review consolidates contemporary eviden

Hysteroscopic Identification of Intrauterine Pathology in Oocyte Donation Cycles: A Retrospective Study.

BACKGROUND: Hysteroscopy remains the gold standard for the diagnosis and treatment of intracavitary uterine anomalies. As for recipients where oocyte donation is mandatory, accurate evaluation of previously missed intrauterine pathology may be an important step to optimize implantation process. The aim of this study was to hysteroscopically assess the incidence of unidentified intrauterine pathology prior to embryo transfer in an oocyte recipient population. METHODS: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted between 2013 and 2022 at Assisting Nature In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Centre i
