Orthodontic extrusion and implant site development using an interocclusal appliance for a severe mucogingival deformity: a clinical report.

A multidisciplinary therapy used to treat a patient with a severe mucogingival deformity in the area of maxillary anterior teeth is presented. The simple technique uses an interocclusal appliance and elastic band for orthodontic extrusion to correct the mucogingival deformity and develop an implant site. This approach is designed to increase the amount of keratinized tissue and new alveolar bone, which are necessary for the development of an implant site. Clinical and radiographic examinations at the 5-year follow-up revealed a successful tooth replacement and improved esthetic appearance that

Orthodontic Extrusion of Subgingivally Fractured Lateral Incisor and Canine Using Gold Post: A Case Report: 1 Year Follow-Up.

The case report describes a multidisciplinary approach using orthodontic forced eruption to facilitate prosthetic restoration of a maxillary permanent lateral incisor and canine with poor restorability for a young patient. Restoration after orthodontic eruption presents a more conservative treatment choice in young patients compared with prosthetic restoration after extraction. On examination, the patient had root stumps in the region of 22 and 23. We decided to treat the patient by orthodontic extrusion followed by endodontic post and core. The case was treated with the help of 19 gauge wire

Six-year follow-up of maxillary anterior rehabilitation with forced orthodontic extrusion: achieving esthetic excellence with a multidisciplinary approach.

Orthodontic extrusion with multidisciplinary treatment can provide predictable outcomes in selected situations, reducing the costs and the adaptation times of gingival tissues after implant integration. Forced orthodontic extrusion is strongly related to interactions of teeth with their supportive periodontal tissues. This article reports a case of orthodontic extrusion of the maxillary incisors for later implant rehabilitation in a patient with periodontal disease. Slow forces were applied for 14 months. After this time, the teeth were extracted, and the implants were placed on the same day.

Surgical management of impacted incisors in associate with supernumerary teeth: a combine case report of spontaneous eruption and orthodontic extrusion.

Maxillary permanent incisors impaction is not a frequent case in dental practice, but its treatment is challenging because of its importance to facial esthetics. Supernumerary teeth are the main cause of impaction of upper incisors. Supernumerary teeth when present can cause both esthetic and pathologic problems. Early detection of such teeth is most important if complications are to be avoided. In this reported case, the orthopantamogram of a 9-year-old boy revealed two impacted supernumerary teeth in the maxillary anterior region, which was interfering with the eruption of the permanent cent

Orthodontic tooth extrusion to regenerate missing papilla adjacent to maxillary anterior single implants: A 2- to 7-year retrospective study.

INTRODUCTION: Regeneration of the missing papilla adjacent to single implants in the esthetic zone has always been challenging, despite advances in vertical hard and soft tissue regeneration. Orthodontic tooth extrusion has been shown to effectively gain alveolar bone and gingival tissue. This retrospective study evaluated the effectiveness of orthodontic tooth extrusion on regenerating missing papilla between existing maxillary anterior single implant and its adjacent tooth. METHODS: Patients who underwent orthodontic tooth extrusion to regenerate missing papilla adjacent to a single implant

Human Periodontal Ligament Transcriptomes Under Orthodontic Extrusion and Intrusion: An Exploratory Pilot RNA-Seq Study With an Interactive Public Web Tool.

BACKGROUND: In this exploratory pilot study, we profiled human periodontal ligament (PDL) transcriptomes during early orthodontic tooth movement (OTM). Early-stage (0-10 days) transcriptional dynamics under tension and compression remain insufficiently understood, and no dedicated user-friendly resource has been available for exploring large-scale human data. METHODS: We established tooth extrusion and intrusion models to simulate tension- and compression-side PDL conditions, respectively, and collected human PDL samples within the first 10 days (days 0, 1, 3 and 10; ≤ 4 biological replicates

Implant Site Development by Orthodontic Extrusion and Buccal Root Torque at a Site Showing Severe Gingival Recession with Periodontitis: A Case Report.

This case report describes alveolar ridge augmentation around a hopeless maxillary canine with severe buccal gingival recession and periodontitis using orthodontic extrusion and a 90-degree buccal root torque in preparation for implant placement. After the orthodontic therapy, the palatal surface of the canine root reached the top of the alveolar bone, parallel to the occlusal plane, with newly formed bone and keratinized mucosa. An implant was successfully placed without combined bone augmentation. This technique may be a useful, minimally invasive approach for implant site development where

No-prep dentistry using the Simple Orthodontic Extrusion (SOE) technique to create occlusal space. Illustration in tooth wear and resin-bonded bridges.

In restorative dentistry, the lack of occlusal space may lead to the mutilation of healthy tissue in order to provide sufficient space for the restorative material. Noprep dentistry can be achieved by placing high-bite restorations, followed by Simple Orthodontic Extrusion (SOE) of other teeth to close the created open bite. This rapid, partial orthodontic treatment is well accepted by patients as it can be easily performed using simple buttons, and it takes only a few weeks to reestablish occlusal contacts. The SOE technique is a further development of the Dahl concept. It has the advantages

Forced orthodontic extrusion and use of CAD/CAM technique for reconstruction of a maxillary central incisor with a severely damaged crown: rehabilitation with a multidisciplinary approach.

Dentists encounter fractured anterior teeth on a regular basis. Various methods have been reported in the literature for rehabilitation of an extremely compromised tooth. This report presents a case where esthetic rehabilitation of a fractured maxillary right central incisor was performed employing a multidisciplinary approach: conventional endodontic treatment followed by orthodontic extrusion and final restoration using a CAD /CAM-fabricated one-piece milled zirconia post and core with a full-coverage zirconia crown.

Intentional Replantation in Combination with Fibroblast Growth Factor-2 Application and Orthodontic Tooth Extrusion for Periodontal Regeneration in the Treatment of Severe Endodontic-Periodontal Lesions.

Endodontic-periodontal lesions are characterized by the involvement of the pulp and periodontal disease in the same tooth. Despite successful root canal treatment, if the majority of bone support has been lost from periodontitis, the tooth may have a poor prognosis. In severe endodonticperiodontal lesions, the periodontal tissue regenerates poorly because of the significant loss of the periodontal ligament and cementum, poor tooth stability, and bone defect morphology that is unfavorable for bone regeneration. To overcome these difficult situations, osteotomy of the replantation bed and tooth

Physical properties of root cementum: Part 22. Root resorption after the application of light and heavy extrusive orthodontic forces: a microcomputed tomography study.

INTRODUCTION: Extrusive tooth movement has been overlooked in the literature on root resorption. The aims of this study were to quantify the effects of light and heavy controlled extrusive forces on root resorption and to localize the sites of prevalence in premolars. METHODS: Ten patients (7 girls, 3 boys) who required bilateral maxillary first premolar extractions as part of their orthodontic treatment participated in this study. The total sample consisted of 20 maxillary first premolars. Light (25 g) or heavy (225 g) forces were applied to the right or left first premolar for 28 days. Afte

The role of orthodontic extrusive remodeling in the enhancement of soft and hard tissue profiles prior to implant placement: a systematic approach to the management of extraction site defects.

A classification scheme that systematizes the wide range of regenerative potential of common extraction site topographies is presented. Within this system, the parameters for immediate implant placement and preliminary ridge augmentation are discussed. In addition, a new adjunctive role for orthodontic extrusion is introduced. This approach is intended to manipulate "hopeless" teeth to modify their local defect environments, thereby enhancing the predictability of subsequent implant placement at those sites.

Severe Intrusive Luxation of a Permanent Maxillary Central Incisor Managed Through an Interdisciplinary Approach Using Orthodontic Extrusion and Endodontic Therapy: A Five-Year Follow-Up.

Intrusive luxation of a permanent maxillary central incisor is an uncommon yet highly challenging dental injury, often associated with extensive periodontal ligament (PDL) damage, pulpal necrosis, and an increased risk of root resorption. This case report details the comprehensive management of a severely intruded maxillary central incisor in a nine-year-old patient using controlled orthodontic extrusion. Clinical and radiographic evaluation confirmed significant apical displacement without evidence of crown or root fracture. Given the depth of intrusion and the stage of root development, orth
