Treatments of dentition with four dens evaginatus and reverse overbite: a case report with a 6-year follow-up.

BACKGROUND: Dens evaginatus is a dental anomaly characterized by a conical cusp or tubercle on the occlusal surface. It is generally believed to be caused by the protrusion of the dental papilla toward the enamel organ during odontogenesis, followed by the formation of enamel, dentin, and dental pulp. Owing to the abrasion of the occlusal surface, the protrusive cusp will be quickly worn off, uncovering the dental pulp tissue and thereby giving rise to pulpal or periapical disorders in the affected tooth. Abnormal occlusion can also exert an impetus in facilitating the wear process of dens eva

Indirect usage of miniscrew anchorage to intrude overerupted mandibular incisors in a Class II patient with a deep overbite.

Vertical dentoalveolar discrepancies are a common problem in orthodontic patients but are often difficult to treat with traditional mechanics. This case report illustrates the successful treatment of overerupted mandibular incisors via the indirect use of miniscrew anchorage. A woman (age, 22 years 9 months) had chief complaints of maxillary incisor protrusion and crooked teeth. An excessive curve of Spee caused by elongation of the mandibular incisors was also found. The patient was diagnosed with a severe Class II Division 1 malocclusion and a deep overbite. After extraction of the mandibula

The effectiveness of anterior unilateral bite turbos in correcting incisal plane cant and asymmetric overbite: a prospective clinical study.

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of anterior unilateral bite turbos (AUBTs) in correcting incisal plane cant and asymmetric overbite in orthodontic patients. A prospective study was conducted on 40 orthodontic patients (4 males, 36 females) undergoing fixed appliance treatment in a private practice setting. Subjects presented with either primary or iatrogenic incisal plane cants and received AUBT placement on the upper canine or lateral incisor of the more pronounced overbite side. Digital photographic analysis was used to measure changes in cant parameters at baseline (T0), pre-
