The method for cerebral blood flow (CBF) measurement using an H215O intravenous injection and positron emission tomography (PET) was implemented, examined and applied to measure cerebrovascular reactivity to PaCO2(VRCO2) and to MABP (VRBP) in normal brain and in ischemic brain. Immediately after bolus intravenous injection of 30-40 mCi H2(15)O, a time-activity curve of H2(15)O concentration in the arterial blood and in the brain were measured for 60 sec by a beta detector and a PET, respectively. BACKGROUND: Beta-radiation has been used since 1950 as a postoperative measure to reduce the recurrence of pterygia. Scleral necrosis has been a major complication after radiotherapy that has led to perforation of the globe, endophthalmitis, and visual loss in some cases.
METHOD: A patient is presented in whom scleral necrosis developed 25 days after a pterygiectomy with bare sclera technique followed by 3000 cGy in 3 weekly, divided doses of strontium 90. After a conjunctival graft failure, the patient was treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) with 177Lu holds a huge clinical success in treating advanced prostate cancer patients. It is noted, however, that 177Lu with moderate radiation energy achieves effective tumor inhibition at a relatively high dose and has a low capacity to activate "cold" prostate tumor. UNLABELLED: Iodine-123-BMIPP is an iodinated methyl-branched-chain fatty acid. Low uptake of BMIPP relative to thallium or other perfusion tracer indicates metabolically damaged but viable myocardium (for example, ischemic but viable myocardium).
